Xu Shaojian introduced that kingfishers like to stand on high places to fish, generally haunting the woods, it is difficult to be photographed. He contacted the park and asked the gardeners to row to the middle of the lake, using the galvanized iron pipes in the lake, and inserting a wooden stake on it, carefully arranging the best date for the kingfisher.

Kingfishers take a week from mating to egg incubation. Xu Shaojian said that when they are in love, the male bird is responsible for catching the fish, feeding the fish head outward to the female bird to eat, and when the eggs are hatched, the male and female birds adopt a shift system, one incubates the egg, and the other goes out to fish.
Xu Shaojian captured a series of photos of kingfishers flying, fishing, courtship and mating in pairs. "About 23 days after the eggs began to hatch, the little kingfisher was born," Xu Shaojian and the bird friends looked for a place for the kingfisher to make a hole in the mud to build a nest, and they planned to wait until the kingfisher broke the shell and was born, and then continue to set up piles to shoot the kingfisher's parents forcing the bird to dive and learn to fly and fish.
According to the staff of the Hongshan District Water Affairs and Lake Bureau, the pilot project of improving the water quality of the Water Quality of the South Lake Happiness Bay organized and implemented by the Hongshan District was completed last year, which improved the sediment characteristics of the lake, and the submerged plants in the lake were able to resume growth, while effectively controlling the toxic and harmful algae biomass, and the water has a certain self-purification ability, providing a good rest place and food source for birds.
In addition to kingfishers, there are also ten species of birds or game birds such as egrets, black water chickens, and red-billed gulls, and South Lake Happiness Bay Park has become the most popular bird watching destination this month.

On April 19, veteran bird watcher Lei Jinyu spotted a grey-crowned warbler in jiefang Park, a downtown area.
This warbler is yellow-green, has no wing bands, the top of the head is gray-blue, the black crown and side crown stripes are obvious, the orbit is yellow and white, and there is a missing moment in the posterior edge of the eye circle.
According to the discoverer Lei Jinyu, the breeding area of the gray-crowned warbler is mainly in the southwest mountainous area, north to the Qinling Mountains at an altitude of 1400-2500 meters in the evergreen broad-leaved forest or bamboo forest. It is an occasional migratory transit bird in Wuhan, where there were no previous observation records.
Yan Jun, president of the Wuhan Bird Watching Association, said that in recent years, the group of bird watching enthusiasts in Wuhan has continued to grow, and the distribution list of birds in Wuhan has increased rapidly from 353 species in 2013 to 409 species now.
