No alien fish species have been found in the headwaters of the Yangtze River

Xining, June 5 (China News Service) -- A reporter learned from the Qinghai Provincial Fishery Environment Monitoring Station on the 5th that in the special investigation of fishery resources and environment at the source of the Yangtze River, scientific researchers did not find alien species in the source area of the Yangtze River, and the ecological environment of the waters was in pristine ecology and maintained well.

Qinghai is the birthplace of the Yangtze River and an important ecological security barrier in China, the main stream of the Yangtze River flows through 11 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in China, with a total length of 6397 kilometers, which is the third longest river in the world.

According to the Fishery Environment Monitoring Station of Qinghai Province, the survey is the first complete fishery ecology and environmental survey carried out by Qinghai Province on the three sources of the Yangtze River (Tuotuo River, Dangqu River, Chumar River) and the main tributaries of the Tongtian River in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, with a journey of nearly 3800 kilometers and a total of 18 survey points, including water quality, zooplankton, planktonic bacteria, benthic animals, fish, etc.

After preliminary analysis, indigenous fish can be collected from 18 survey sites, and the number of fish is relatively abundant, and the composition of fish is relatively single. In addition, the survey also recorded that the Red List of Chinese species recorded 1 species of indigenous fish (bare-bellied leaf whiskerfish), 4 other indigenous fish species (small-headed nudibranch, soft-spined nudibranch, slender plateau loach, slender plateau loach), no exotic fish were found, and the ecological environment of the waters was in its original ecology and well maintained.
