According to the Xiamen Guangdong Power Grid on October 21, seemingly useless shark bones can be extracted from chondroitin, applied to treat arthritis or make eye drops, etc. Some criminals have targeted this "way to make money". Recently, Xiamen Customs cracked a case of smuggling endangered species deep-sea long-tail sharks, and seized 1979 kilograms of deep-sea long-tail shark bones.

A few days ago, a company in Shanghai declared to Xiamen Customs to import a batch of dried fish bones, with a declared weight of 10.8 tons. When the on-site customs officer inspected, it was found that the goods were a large number of black gray and beige bones, and the types were more varied. For the sake of prudence, the on-site customs officer immediately contacted the professional agency, and after identification, confirmed that the 1979 kg cargo was deep-sea long-tailed shark bone, which was listed in Appendix II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
According to the suspect in the case, he purchased the batch of deep-sea long-tailed shark bones abroad, which he intended to smuggle into China and use it to extract and make chondroitin. At present, the case is under further investigation.
