Last night, Benzema won the 2022 Ballon d'Or, and Ronaldo and Messi gradually faded out of the Ballon d'Or competition, which also marked the end of an era in which the peerless double Cristiano Ronaldo Messi dominated the Ballon d'Or.

Karim Benzema won the Ballon d'Or 2022 for his hard work as Real Madrid's forward between 2021 and 2022.

This year's results, announced at Monday night's ceremony, also show a clear change, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, both of whom are ranked somewhat disappointingly in the Ballon d'Or voting.

Previously, since 2007 in today's football, the peerless double proud Ronaldo and Messi will enter the top three of the Golden Ball voting every year, but in the 2022 vote, Ronaldo only ranked 20th (this is the lowest ranking in Ronaldo's Golden Ball since 2005), and Messi did not even make the voting list of 30 people at all.

Ronaldo and Messi first appeared in the top three of the Ballon d'Or voting since 2007, and in the final Ballon d'Or voting, the peerless double proud Ronaldo Messi finished second and third behind 2007 Ballon d'Or winner Kaka.

Ronaldo then won his first Ballon d'Or in 2008, which created an era of long-term domination for him and Messi, and they began to share the next multiple Golden Globes.

Here are two players Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi who have each achieved the Ballon d'Or year after year, starting with Ronaldo's debut at the Ballon d'Or 14 years ago.

2008 (Ronaldo: Ballon d'Or winner, Messi: 2nd)

Ronaldo was 23 years old at the time, and in his penultimate season with Manchester United, he was the first of the peerless duo to win the Ballon d'Or. The Portuguese striker scored 42 goals in the 2007/08 season, when Manchester United won the Premier League and UEFA Champions League, and Ronaldo led Messi in the goal award vote.

2009 (Messi: Ballon d'Or winner, Ronaldo: 2nd place)

Messi won his first Ballon d'Or at the age of 22, after a treble season at Barca that led Barca to a goal in the Champions League final to victory over Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United. Messi also became the first Argentine player to win the Ballon d'Or, a great achievement among Argentine players, even Diego Maradona, the Argentine champion, has never won the Ballon d'Or.

2010 (Messi: Ballon d'Or winner, sixth place in Ronaldo)

Barcelona dominated the 2010 Ballon d'Or, with Messi earning his second career Ballon d'Or, while the remaining podium was occupied by his teammates Iniesta and Xavi in the La Masia Academy, reflecting Spain's victory at the 2010 World Cup that summer. At the same time, Ronaldo ranked 6th in the Golden Globe vote that year, far ahead of Wesley Sneijder and Diego Forlan.

2011 (Messi: Ballon d'Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo 2nd)

In 2011, it was no surprise that Messi scored 43 goals and assisted 21 times in 47 games he played, winning the Ballon d'Or for the third time in a row. Messi's unparalleled season also led Barcelona to an awesome fifth consecutive title in that year – La Liga, Champions League, Spanish Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup and World Club Title.

2012 (Messi: Ballon d'Or winner, second place in Ronaldo)

Ronaldo once again had to be ranked second behind Messi in the Ballon d'Or vote, and the Barcelona striker Messi became the first player in football history to win the Ballon d'Or four times in a row. Dressed in a gorgeous polka polka dot evening gown and dressed as a ninth, Messi took the trophy that broke his Golden Globe record.

2013 (Ronaldo: Lord of the Ballon d'Or, second place Messi)

In 2013, Ronaldo won the second Ballon d'Or of his career, and in the 2012/13 season, the prolific Real Madrid goalscorer scored a mad 55 goals in 55 games for Real Madrid, beating Messi and Frank Ribery to win the Ballon d'Or.

2014 (Cristiano Ronaldo Ballon d'Or winner, Messi 2nd)

Ronaldo completed his Ballon d'Or hat-trick in a resounding style at the age of 29, thanks to his landslide win over Messi in the final round of voting. The Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo scored 51 goals in 47 appearances in 2013/14 and 17 in the UEFA Champions League, breaking Real Madrid's record for winning "La Decima" (Real Madrid's tenth UEFA Cup winners).

2015 (Master of Messi's Goal Award, 2nd place in Ronaldo)

In 2015, Messi won five trophies for Barça (including La Liga and the UEFA Champions League) and contributed 52 goals and 26 assists in 61 matches for Barça and the Argentine national team, once again topping the voting for the Ballon d'Or.

2016 (Cristiano Ronaldo Goal Award winner, Messi 2nd)

Then, with Cristiano Ronaldo winning the Champions League in 2016 and starting a three-year winning in a row, the pendulum of voting tendencies swings again. The 31-year-old scored 54 goals in 2015/16 as Real Madrid once again became champions of the Champions League, before scoring a crucial three more goals in the European 2016 campaign for Portugal.

Cristiano Ronaldo is second in the Ballon d'Or with five trophies, two more than Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten.

2017 (Cristiano Ronaldo Ballon d'Or, Messi 2nd)

Ronaldo and Messi are already equal in their Ballon d'Or records, scoring 42 goals in La Liga and UEFA Champions League for Real Madrid last season (2016/17), Ronaldo won the fifth Ballon d'Or of his career in 2017.

2018 (Modric wins the Ballon d'Or, Ronaldo is second, Messi is fifth)

After Luka Modric played a major role in Real Madrid's Champions League title and Croatia's 2018 World Cup runner-up, Modric also became the first player besides Ronaldo and Messi to be selected for the Ballon d'Or for ten consecutive years, and Modric's victory in the Ballon d'Or also shocked the Ballon d'Or award scene.

2019 (Messi Ballon d'Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo third)

Messi scored 51 goals and provided 19 assists (70 goals in total) in 49 games in 2018/19 to win his sixth career Ballon d'Or in 2019, once again taking the lead in peerless competition. In this chase, Messi won his last La Liga title as a Barcelona player. Shots captured Messi and Ronaldo on the podium separated by Virgil van Dijk, who excelled in winning the Champions League for Liverpool, culminating in a silver medal for the Ballon d'Or.

2020 (Cancelled due to the pandemic)

Although most of the world's major leagues and competitions were eventually completed after the first global suspension caused by the pandemic, the organizers decided not to award the Ballon d'Or in 2020.

2021 (Master of Messi Goal Award, 6th place in Ronaldo)

After Messi left Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, Messi further extended his record in 2021 – although his seventh Ballon d'Or win shocked many fans, who believe that Bayern Munich's unstoppable scoring machine Robert Lewandowski was so brutally denied his personal results when he led Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich to the Champions League title in 2020. Lewandowski is a natural candidate to win the Golden Globe.

2022 (Lord of the Benzema Ballon d'Or, 20th in Ronaldo, Messi not in the top 30 squad)

Is the era of the monopoly of the peerless Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi dominating the Golden Globes over now? The results of the 2022 Ballon d'Or are undoubtedly a waste for the two who used to take turns to sit on the bank, because Ronaldo almost barely entered the lower 20th position in the final 30 voting list, while Argentine Messi did not enter the top 30 voting list at all. Ronaldo sits second in the cumulative number of Ballon d'Or with five Ballon d'Ors, two more than Michel Platini, Johan Cruyff and Marco van Basten.
