"When I asked her to look down, I saw the edges of a pair of contact lenses glued together. After taking them out, I felt that I had seen more things, so I asked my assistant to take out my phone and record the process. Kurtieva said. When the patient's eyeball turned down again, she saw a large mass of contact lenses, so she gently peeled the lenses with a cotton swab, "they drooped down her eyelids like chains." After carefully removing the largest string of lenses, she removed a few more lenses from the corner of the patient's eye, and then rinsed the patient's eye with distilled and sterile water to complete the treatment. Subsequently, Kurtieva peeled off the removed lenses one by one and found that there were as many as 23 contact lenses. "I've never seen anything like this in my nearly 20 years of practice." She said. "The patient couldn't believe it and asked me if I was sure of the number I counted."
Kurtieva said it was impossible to determine exactly how the patient forgot so many contact lenses in her eyes, one possibility is that she has been wearing contact lenses for 30 years, and wearing contact lenses for a long time may cause desensitization of corneal nerve endings, and the feeling of 23 contact lenses is not so strong. It's also possible that she is older, and the eyelid fornix of the elderly is much deeper, and "the contact lenses there have no effect on her".
