The world's most famous pigeons are --- 10

author:Fancier blue big tile gray

In fact, I have always had an unspeakable feeling about the world-famous pigeon that I am about to recommend, we have an old saying Chinese "people can't look" may be to say that it is such a pigeon, we raise pigeons will more or less take the "pigeon" by appearance, I will also have such a pigeon in the loft who is not beautiful but has a good family, and the results are also very good, so we should give them more opportunities to show.

The world's most famous pigeons are --- 10

Here is the story of the famous pigeon "Silk", so legendary, but destined. The story is Eddie. Mr. Schlaken's statement.

In 1991 I heard rumors that a Belgian could produce many super pigeons. So one of my American fanciers and I rushed to visit the owner. We asked the Belgian owner, How much does it cost to produce a young chick from your super? ”

When he offered the price, we gulped down a lot of surprise. The owner of the pigeon must have been amazed to see us, and he quickly said, "All right! I'll give you another hen for free. ”

We bought pigeons. My friend and I each pay half, and then we share the chicks they have bred.

When we got home, we opened the cage and looked at the 2 pigeons we had brought back, which looked even uglier than they had been.

"I'm sorry!" My American friend said: "Such an ugly pigeon must not be much better, do you mind if I don't buy it?" ”

"No problem." I said, and give him back the money.

"I'm so stupid!" That night, before going to bed, I cursed myself in my heart: "How can I waste my money on such a garbage pigeon?" "And I swear to be more careful when I spend money on the introduction of pigeons in the future."

But I had no choice but to breed those two ugly pigeons.

The I bought from the super owner in 1992, the young chicks didn't look very good, but they weren't too bad either. The first chicks from the free hen (the "silk") looked terrible, so I had to kill them; the new chicks still looked just as bad, but I couldn't kill them all, could I? But I'm lucky, at least that's what I thought. Because one of its young chicks flew away, I thought to myself with relief: "Finally I can have one less bad pigeon." ”

But a few days later, when I got a call from Hamburg, Germany, where the fancier brother told me that he had a young bird of mine in his loft, think about how surprised I was! After asking for the ring number, I was very happy, it was the "Silk" that flew away. "Give it to you!" I told the German, "You can keep it." ”

I think this is the noblest way to get rid of a pigeon you don't want.

Two days later, something even more surprising happened. The young pigeon, which was only 10 weeks old, flew back to my loft and, completely untrained, flew back to hamburg to the town where I lived, which was at least 600 kilometres away. Can you believe it?

The young bird, with a ring number of 92-5212278, went on to win 7 races, including 2 consecutive provincial races in two weeks. Timmermans had a young breed of 278 pigeons, which later became the father of the ring numbers 99-1944577. Pigeons 99-1944577 of the rings have won:

  14,454 pigeons – 1st prize

  9,508 pigeons – 1st prize

  10,500 pigeons – 1st prize

Another major event occurred at the same time in 1992.

  Japanese importer

There is a Japanese importer who is always looking for traces of new pigeons.

He doesn't buy famous pigeons, he only buys pigeons from obscure fanciers. At that time, he had never heard the name of the Belgian fancier whom I had bought . I told him there was such a person and I bought two of his best breeding chicks.

This Japanese man, he's a good guy, so I warned him that the pigeons don't look very good because I don't want to disappoint him.

He had confidence in me, so he said to me, "Sell them to me." So I did as he said and gave him the two pigeons.

Time flew by, and the "silky" child made me a big victory.

"How did I send these pigeons to Japan?" I'm such a big idiot. I sighed.

It was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life.

Strange enough, I haven't heard this Japanese client bring a phrase in a long time. So I faxed him and asked, "Why haven't you heard from you?" "Is there anything wrong?" "Have a question?"

Then he faxed me about the two pigeons I had delivered to him. He said he should listen to me, they were so ugly that fanciers who saw them couldn't help but laugh, so they couldn't be sold, and he was about to kill them.

I replied, "I'm sorry. And I said, "I don't want to disappoint you, I'll give you back the money." But you have to send them back to Holland for me. ”

You can't imagine how happy I was at the time. I think this is the one thing that makes me happiest since I race pigeons. So "Silk" returned to the Netherlands. I started to breed it again, and you've seen it before. Later, I did one more thing right.

In 1996, I sold quite a few pigeons to Dutch and Belgian fanciers, but in 1993 and 1994 they didn't want to buy my "silky" descendants because they didn't like the dark gray color of these descendants and they thought the pigeons were too small.

I thought to myself, it doesn't matter if you don't buy it, then there won't be any problem.

But in 1995, the fame of the descendants of "Silk" spread like wildfire. That year, I beat thousands of pigeons in a series of competitions, and the people who won for me were the descendants of "Silk". Suddenly, everyone was going to buy my "silk" pedigree.

In 1996, I had four descendants born in the summer. Many famous fanciers competed for them at a high price, and this time I did one thing right: I didn't covet money, and I kept what I had.

  afterward

Later, I went back to buy more pigeons from belgian fanciers who had bought "silk". Because they are not good.

Moreover, my American friend, as well as the Japanese importer, knew that he had made a big mistake, and they went to buy the brother and sister pigeon of "Silk". But they couldn't produce any good offspring, and they sold all of them to Taiwan!

  spirit

  1. Getting good pigeons requires good luck. If you don't buy a good pigeon, it doesn't mean you've been deceived. A super pigeon does not mean that its sibling pigeons are necessarily good. Even "Silk" has bred inferior pigeons for me.

  2. Ask yourself how much you know about pigeons? If the Belgian fancier knew that "Silk" was a super pigeon, he would never sell it. The strong fanciers who bought me pigeons before 1995 but did not buy the descendants of the "silk" were also completely wrong in their assessment of the quality of the pigeons. When they want the descendants of "Silk", it is too late, and I do not sell.

  3. You may never be able to figure out whether the quality of the pigeons is good or bad, but it is also a good thing for pigeon racing. If the quality of the pigeons can be seen clearly, then the super pigeons and good pigeons will fall into the hands of rich people.

  4. The descendants of "Silk" are mostly small, especially the hens, but their racing performance is the most prominent. I think the modern winning pigeons are all small, which is quite different from a few decades ago, when the winning pigeons were on the larger side. In harsh weather, be extra careful with the performance of the large pigeons! It is often the slightly smaller pigeons that are the strongest.
