Chen Shui-bian's son, Chen Zhizhong, who is seeking re-election to the Kaohsiung City Council this year, recently followed the trend in signing the so-called "Pledge to Defend Taiwan and Never Surrender."
The pledge reads: "Whether elected or not, we will strive to strengthen the will of the Taiwan people to resist and actively assist in the establishment and improvement of the local civil defense system in various parts of Taiwan," and "we will never advocate, propagate, lobby, or support any arguments about surrender, non-resistance, or peace talks through speech, action, or other means." Even if war breaks out between the two sides of the strait, "we will swear to defend Taiwan's security to the death and never surrender."
Chen Zhizhong was once involved in his father's "money laundering case" and was prosecuted, and was also certified by the court as "summoning prostitutes to a hotel to steal pleasure." It is hard to imagine that this greedy and lustful person can see death and resist to the end in the face of war.
