The Kidd-class destroyer, as the main warship at the bottom of the Taiwan military's pressure box, was actually customized by the United States for Iran in the 1970s. A total of 4 ships were built, with a full load displacement of about 9600 tons, supporting the "Harpoon" anti-ship missile, and the "standard" air defense missile system, which can be said to be quite advanced at that time.
Later, due to the end of the Balewe dynasty, these warships were accepted and used by the U.S. Navy until they were prematurely retired and sealed in 1999. Then purchased by the Taiwan military at a high price in 2003, the biggest attraction of the 40-year-old Kidd class is displacement, and with the passage of time, the performance has long been outdated, compared with the most elite 052D destroyer.
