In 1970, the United States proposed to "transfer" the jurisdiction of diaoyu Dao and other islands to Japan, and as soon as the news came out, it immediately caused protests from Chinese people at home and abroad.
Under pressure, the US side held a hearing on October 27 of the following year to discuss the matter. During the meeting, a Chinese-American man stood up with a scroll of oracles: "The island is ours, I have proof!" ”
These words were loud and clear, and the atmosphere of the meeting was pushed to a climax.
Who is she? What is the evidence she is talking about?
Legacy of history
From ancient times to the present, the Diaoyu Islands belong to China, which is an indisputable fact.
As early as the 14th and 15th centuries, we had a nautical record book called "Sending the Wind", which recorded the location of the island and gave it a name.
As history progressed, Japan wanted to deny this fact and take the islands for itself.
In April 2012, a Japanese official declared that he wanted to nationalize the island in an attempt to declare "sovereignty" through so-called "legal means."
After that, Japan also engaged in a series of operations such as appealing to the Japanese people to donate money, organizing a fishing contest on the island, and announcing that it would buy the island for 2.05 billion yen.
Of course, these acts of attempting to seize territory by force have been strongly condemned by the mainland, and in order to safeguard national sovereignty, our side has also carried out a series of legitimate defensive measures.
The mainland immediately launched the normalization of monitoring and surveillance of the Diaoyu Dao and its affiliated islands, dispatched four maritime surveillance ships to cruise within the range of the islands and reefs, and issued a white paper to show the fact that the Diaoyu Islands are our inherent territory.
In addition, some patriots rushed here by boat and planted the five-star flag on the island to swear sovereignty.
2012 became the most controversial year for the ownership of the Diaoyu Islands.
However, the controversy over this issue has already begun.
In 1894, the Sino-Japanese Sino-Japanese War broke out, and our side was forced to sign an unequal treaty and cede the relevant islands. In 1945, Japan claimed that these places were under the jurisdiction of Okinawa Prefecture and handed them all over to the United States for "trusteeship."
25 years later, the US side "returned" the island to Japan, and this operation was like a family, which made people angry.
When it was discovered that Japan had sent troops to patrol the area around the islands, the Mainland Foreign Ministry immediately issued a statement: The us act of "returning" the islands that originally belonged to our side to Japan is completely illegal, and these acts cannot change our territorial sovereignty over these islands.
In view of this move by the United States and Japan, some Chinese in the United States are still marching in many places to condemn the drama of the United States in "returning the island."
Because the movement is too big, the US side can no longer turn a blind eye, but they have no intention of taking the initiative to "come out", so they held a hearing and wanted the "parties" to solve the problem on their own.
A hearing was held, and the "Cixi Oracle" was shocked
On October 27, 1971, the hearing was held as scheduled.
In accordance with the requirements of the hearing, a small number of Chinese formed a "persuasion group" to negotiate on our behalf.
This is a very meaningful hearing, representing the firm position of the mainland people on this matter. In order to safeguard our legitimate rights and interests, the members of the "persuasion team" argued on the basis of reason and did not back down.
Just when the two sides were coming and going, and the war of words and words was fierce, an old man named Xu Yi came to the scene of the hearing, holding a long-barreled object in her hand, and said sonorously and forcefully: "The Diaoyu Island is my home, and I have evidence to prove it." ”
This sentence made the noisy hall immediately quiet. How can the island still be privately owned? How is this possible?
Xu Yi also knew that empty talk was naturally not convincing, so she prepared a very weighty evidence, that is, what she was holding in her hand. Originally, it was a red scroll about 60 centimeters long and about 30 centimeters wide.
As she slowly unfolded the scroll, the true face of the scroll was completely revealed. Inside was a yellowed sheet of paper with severe wear and tear on all sides, looking very dated, and on the paper, there were a few lines of writing, and a large red seal.
What is this? Many people present were still confused, and it was not until Xu Yi explained the contents of the paper that they understood why she took it out.
According to Xu Yi's explanation, it turned out that the scroll she brought was an oracle that Cixi had given to her family, and the contents of the oracle, in simple terms, were because her grandfather Sheng Xuan had meritorious service, and the Diaoyu Islands were given to their family.
At this moment, everyone wondered again, who is Sheng Xuanhuai? What did he accomplish? Is it true that the island is giving?
The oracles have been passed down from generation to generation
Xu Yi's grandfather, named Sheng Xuanhuai, was born into a family of official eunuchs, and both his father and grandfather held official positions in the court.
Although the Sheng family is more prominent, it does not require that the children of the Sheng family must take the study as the heavy responsibility and take the road of becoming an official in the future, but prefer to cultivate the ability of the family's descendants to solve practical problems.
Under the subtlety of his father's generation, from an early age, Sheng Xuanhuai's interest in reading was not too great. Instead, he preferred to follow his father every day to build the Yixue genealogy and increase the Yizhuang sacrifice field, and in terms of practical matters, he was better than many Sheng family disciples.
In 1867, Sheng Xuanhuai's third county examination also failed, because his age was approaching the end of his life, and the possibility of him wanting to rely on the imperial examination to embark on a career was almost gone. Therefore, Sheng Xuanhuai's father simply recommended him to Li Hongzhang, who had a good friendship, and let him serve as an aide to his friend.
A few years later, the Western affairs movement gradually began to unfold. Sheng Xuanhuai, who was very talented in industry and accumulated rich experience from childhood, became a "general" under Li Hongzhang and a representative figure of the foreign affairs movement.
During that period, he vigorously set up industries, invested in and supervised many coal mines, textile factories, railways, banks, etc., and also founded the first government-run university in modern times on the mainland, the predecessor of Tianjin University, the Beiyang Western School.
More importantly, he created the first enterprise steamship China Merchants Bureau, the first Bank of China Merchants Bank and other 11 "China First", at the same time, he is also an accomplished philanthropist, in Tianjin, Shanghai and other places, he has founded Guangrentang, the Red Cross Society and other charities.
It was this Guangren Hall that gave him the opportunity to be rewarded by Cixi.
Originally, the purpose of Sheng Xuanhuai's establishment of this charity was to help some poor people with difficulties in life, so in Guangrentang, he opened the business of giving porridge, donating clothes, treating patients and treating people, and taking in the elderly, the weak, the sick and the disabled.
In 1893, Cixi suffered from rheumatism, but none of the imperial doctors in the palace had a way to cure it, so the eunuchs in the palace began to look for folk remedies. At this time, Sheng Xuanhuai seized the opportunity and took the opportunity to offer the pills developed by Guangrentang.
Unexpectedly, after Cixi took the pills, the symptoms on her body were alleviated a lot at once.
Her body was no longer tormented by illness, and Cixi's mood also improved. She immediately summoned Sheng Xuanhuai and asked him about the origin of the pill. When I learned that the main ingredient of this medicine is called sea hibiscus, it is a local specialty called Diaoyu Island. With a big wave of her hand, she gave him this island and several other small islands, so that he could collect more medicines on the island in the future and develop more golden medicines.
In this way, the Diaoyu Islands belonged to the Sheng family. After 1 year, due to the outbreak of the Sino-Japanese War, the island was occupied. But no one had contacted her family, nor had she gone through any transfer procedures, which made the Sheng family always believe that the island was still their own.
After Sheng Xuanhuai's death, the handbook of Cixi's reward was passed on to his son, Xu Yi's father, Sheng Enxi.
In fact, Xu Yi's original name is not called this, but Sheng Yuzhen, she was born with a foreign woman during Sheng Eun-hee's study abroad.
Because Sheng Enxi has more "wind debt" and has more children born, and one of his friends surnamed Xu just has no heirs, Xu Yi was passed on to the Xu family.
After decades of profligacy, Heon Eun-hee lost his ancestral family property. At this time, he wanted to go to his children, but his children already knew what the nature of his father was. Therefore, no one was willing to help him, and even refused to meet him.
In the end, Sheng Eun-hee remembered the daughter who had been adopted by himself, and after hearing that Xu Yi had a successful career at a young age, he was even more impatient and wanted to contact her.
In order to prove the depth of his father's love, he sent Xu Yi the more valuable things in his hand, that is, a copy of the medicine collection industry on the Diaoyu Islands, along with the Cixi Handbook.
Going round and round, the scroll passed through the hands of generations and finally reached her hands.
Things may be false, fists and patriotism are true
Xu Yi's hand at the hearing shocked everyone present, but with the continuous change of times, some old things have lost their value.
And these, in fact, she also knows that she did not really want to get the right to take over the Diaoyu Islands, but wanted to use this period of the past to prove that the island belongs to our side, there are traces to follow.
After the hearing, the authenticity of the oracle was questioned again.
In 1972, a scholar specializing in the island studied a copy of the oracle. After repeatedly examining the details, he found some clues.
The material, size, and seal of the oracle are different from other objects from the same dynasty. Moreover, according to the contents of the oracle, Sheng Xuanhuai's official position at that time should have been that of Taichang Temple Zhengqing, but neither the recitals he himself wrote nor the official recorded records that have been handed down do not mention that he once held this official position.
The only thing that has anything to do with it is an official position called Zhengshi. However, the time recorded in the historical records is different from that in the oracle, the difference between the two is a full 3 years, and this official position, Sheng Xuanhuai, has not yet arrived.
Just as the research was proceeding here, a scholar obtained a very convincing testimony during the investigation visit, and the witness was Sheng Eun-hee's son, and Xu Yi's brother, Sheng Yudu.
In his mouth, there was another version of the matter.
It turned out that when Cixi was ill, Sheng Xuanhuai entered the palace and wanted to offer her pills, but he was far from qualified to see the empress dowager with his own eyes.
So he came up with a solution. He asked a eunuch who had a relatively good face in front of Cixi at that time and handed it over on his behalf.
When he gave the eunuch some benefits, the eunuch told Sheng Xuanhuai that after Cixi took the medicine, the illness was all better. Because of the merit of the medicine, he could receive a reward, but to get the oracle with the reward, he had to give some more benefits.
Therefore, Sheng Xuanhuai gave the eunuch some gold and silver jewelry, and the eunuch, after that, gave him a copy of the oracle, which was the one that Xu Yi finally got.
According to this account, this so-called Cixi oracle was not given to Sheng Xuanhuai on the spot by Cixi, but passed through the hands of eunuchs. The eunuch forged this thing in order to gain benefits, and it seemed that it was not impossible.
Unfortunately, time has passed, whether this oracle is true or false, and there is no party to "appear and say". What really exists is that the descendants of the Sheng family and the experts and scholars who study this area have deliberated according to the old sayings they have heard and some historical evidence.
This Cixi oracle, which bears witness to Xu Yi's patriotic heart, was finally donated to relevant institutions.
On the issue of sovereignty over the islands, China and Japan have not reached an agreement for decades. But no matter how cunning Japan argues, the ownership of the Diaoyu Islands and its affiliated islands cannot be theirs.
From this hearing, it can be seen that many overseas Chinese, even if they are abroad, are always paying attention to the motherland, and their hearts have never left this chinese land that gave birth to them.
When the motherland needs it, they will not hesitate to contribute their own strength.
