This article shares with aquarists the opening and landscaping process of a three-no-native medaka fish tank. No filtration, no fish tank lights, no oxygen pumps, completely native state. This scenery combines water and land, the plan is to raise medaka, you can also raise small water tortoises, or small stream crabs, as well as river shrimp, loach, snails, river mussels and the like, simulating the original state, according to their own likes free collocation, but can not raise too much, too much water quality can not bear.

This is the state on the evening of July 19, the day after the opening of the cylinder, the water is very clear, the moisture is very good, and the red jade soil is in a humid state.

In fact, the land part can also put more stones and sunken wood, make undulating slopes, so that there is a more land feeling, but because I want to raise turtles and crabs, if you put stones, turtles and crabs will definitely escape along the stones, so I did not recreate the complex scenery in the land part, just simply put a few pieces of landscape stones, with some plants.
Aquarists can continue to landscaping on land, which will be more brilliant. My tank, as a compensation, intends to plant small leaf thunderbolts and golden pass yellow, so that some vines stretch into the water, so that the connection between water and land is natural, and also use the absorption capacity of plants to achieve water purification.
Originally bought short velvet moss, ready to cover the bare jade soil, but very sorry, the logistics is too slow, I received the goods and because of busy, did not deal with the moss in time, resulting in moss loss of water and dry, so aquarists will see those bare jade soil. But I thought about it, it is better not to plant moss, to leave enough space for plants to spread and grow, so that they can grow freely, and the scenery that comes out later will be more natural and more expected. I will update it in time for aquarists, and aquarists can click to pay attention to it so that they can see the changes in the later stage of this tank.
There were also some red reticulated grasses, which were nice to look at, but also hung up during transport. The plant part is still less, and it will be replanted later.
The type of duckweed, slightly less, but the winter duckweed can not live, so do not plan to add it again, the water hibiscus is too big, put in this tank is not coordinated nor good-looking, temporarily placed in the tank to raise water, after the fish will be taken away from the water hibiscus.
The stones separated by land and water, the foaming agent can be seen more obviously, but after the yellow and leaflet thunderbolts spread down, they will cover up. Or plant some ferns or other watery plants in the gaps between the stones, which can both shield the styrofoam and look very good.
Therefore, this scene is not actually completed at present, and it is nature, time, and the power of plant growth that finally completes it.

Porcelain jar: This porcelain jar is my previous goldfish for use, even if it is local materials, in fact, it is not a particularly ideal container, it is best to be a clay clay pot - the pottery jar that used to hold grain and salted meat in the countryside, but it needs to be open, and the depth is best not to exceed 45 cm (if it is too high, it is better to pad more stones and bottom sand, or use red brick to raise it). Clay clay pots are more simple, clumsy, closer to the original state, more charming. Clay clay jars are also water-absorbent, and the rim of the jar can be planted with moss and ferns, which is very beautiful. It is said that the breathability is also better than the porcelain cylinder, which I have not examined. If aquarists buy it now, then clay pots are preferred.
The size of my porcelain jar is 45 cm in height and the diameter of the widest part of the upper part is 65 cm. The size of the cylinder can refer to me this, quite appropriate.

Bottom sand: for bottoming, one can cultivate nitrifying bacteria and denitrifying bacteria, two can pad the water level, and the third is used as a cushion for stones.
I use thin stream shift sand and river sand, and I can replace it with small pebbles, small stream stones, biochemical cotton, and grid plates. If the cylinder is shallow, it is possible without priming.
The bottom sand must be washed, otherwise it is very muddy
Stones: Stones of different sizes, covered in fine sand, the main role is to change the water, pumping the bottom will not suck fine sand, will not raise sand, convenient maintenance.

Big Stones: I used pebbles and stream stones, and later used three landscape stones for landscaping. Find the right one to use, there is no special attention, it is best to keep the whole unified. The use of large stones to make a distinction between land and water is equivalent to the embankment or stone built on the shore in nature.
50 skeleton glue, dry foaming agent: the role is to temporarily fix the stones together, so as not to fall off when building, because the stones need to be built at a certain height, and several stones need to be stacked together. If there is no dry foaming agent, you can use toilet paper, cigarette butts, biochemical cotton, stone powder and other adhesive media instead, anyway, use 50 skeleton glue to glue the stone firmly. Or with marble glue.
Of course, if your kung fu is good enough, find the right stone, to ensure that the stone does not fall, then you can also do not use these, after building the stone directly with foaming agent can be fixed.
Foaming agent: A special foaming agent for aquariums, I use brown, the color and stone close to it. The role is to connect the stones into a whole.
Volcanic stone particles: used three packs, 9 kg (18 kg), the bottom of the use, volcanic stone particles have developed gaps, water absorption, permeability, and submerged in water will not pulverize, will not muddy the water. In addition, the volcanic stone particles are relatively light, and they will not collapse because of the heavy weight.
If there are no volcanic stone particles, they can be replaced with light stone. However, there are not many pores in light stone, not as good as volcanic stone particles, and the pores of volcanic stone particles can play a role in cultivating nitrifying bacteria.
Size 1-3 cm is available
Of course, in the absence of a water circulation, the number of these nitrifying bacteria is very limited. In order to maintain a good state, the three no tanks are mainly dependent on frequent water changes, less feeding, less fish, raising small fish, and a variety of plants.
Oh, and there's another very important one, which is light, light, light!!
Plants grow, and it is impossible to do without light, so you see, I put this tank on the balcony and let the natural light fully illuminate it. If there is no such condition, it can only be equipped with a fish tank lamp.
Red jade soil: used almost 2 pounds, used to plant terrestrial plants, is the medium of terrestrial plants, red jade soil is not mixed with water, its own nutrition can maintain plant growth for many years, no need to apply additional fertilizer, the later maintenance is convenient.
Plants: Water plants are small red nan, money calamus, fluffy tree, copper money grass, later plan to plant some ferns in the crevices of the stone, in the red jade soil replant small leaf thunderbolt, golden road yellow, Ji Hu ear and so on. The underwater plants are small water orchids and snapdragon algae. The water surface is duckweed and water hibiscus.
Dry water moss: This special instruction, it is best to lay about 2 cm thick dry water moss between volcanic stone particles and red jade soil, dry water moss moisture is very good, can absorb water moisture, provide moisture for red jade soil. I didn't put it because the water level was relatively high.
Let's talk about the landscaping process:
Step 1: Lay the bottom sand for the bottom.
I spread about 5 cm thick.
Step 2: Build the stone and connect the stone with 50 skeleton glue and dry foam.
The stone I almost built in the middle, dividing the space of the fish tank in two, raising fish on the one hand, and planting land and water plants on the other. The height of the stone reinforcement is about 10 cm below the cylinder mouth.
Step 3: Fill the crevices of the stone with waterfacial foaming agent.
Let the stones be firmly connected into a whole, similar to a, and the foaming agent should also be applied between the stone and the wall of the fish tank so that the embankment will not fall. After filling the foaming agent, you need to wait patiently for the foaming agent to dry.
After drying, remove too much foaming agent, trim the foaming agent, in order to make the foaming agent look more natural, you can first use a knife to cut a hole in the dry foaming agent, and then use your hands to tear the foaming agent directly, so that the tearing out is more natural.

Step 4: Lay small pebbles on the side of the fish farming and cover the fine sand with small pebbles.
If you don't use fine sand to base it, small stones can cover the bottom of the tank, making the scenery look natural and close to the original appearance.
Step 5: Place volcanic stone particles on the side where the plant is planted.
The height of the volcanic stone particles is almost the height of the water level, so depending on what water level you want to put, put the volcanic stone particles in what position, but the volcanic stone particles must be placed below the height of the stone.
If you want to continue the landscaping on land, you can use volcanic stone particles to pile up the slope and then use stone to create a landscape.
Step 6: Fill the volcanic stone particles with terracotta soil.
The height of the red jade earth is about the height of the stone. If there is dry moss, first lay 2 cm thick dry moss on the volcanic stone particles, and then put the red jade soil.
On the red jade soil, some small stones can also be appropriately placed to adjust and modify the stone landscaping.
Step 7: Plant the plants.
Plant the small water orchid and goldfish algae on the side of the fish, and fix the roots with small stones. On land, plants can be planted directly in the red jade soil.
Plants are best planted in a staggered high and low position, echoing near and far, low in front and high in front, short plants (such as: money calamus) planted in front, tall plants (such as: small red nan) planted in the back position, water-loving plants planted at the water's edge.
Finally, fill it with water, put on the duckweed, and you're done.
When releasing water, be lighter, do not operate violently, destroy the landscaping, and mix the water, you can slowly pour water along the wall of the fish tank or stones, or use plastic bags or biochemical cotton to buffer the impact of the water.

The land part was built, and the landscape stone was used and placed directly on top of the red jade soil. I changed some of the water, because the materials are new, and the landscaping used skeleton glue and foaming agent, and I was worried about the precipitation of toxic substances.
