Basking sharks are large oceanic sharks of the family Basking Shark family. The body is greyish brown and the ventral surface is white. Each fin is light grey-brown. It is the second largest filter shark in the world after the whale shark. The body length is generally 7-8 meters, and the larger one can reach 15 meters. Basking sharks inhabit the open seas of continental sheds and island sheds , but are often found on shores , outside the intertidal zone , or in inner bays. It is most commonly found in mild coastal waters. It is found in China in the Yellow Sea, the East China Sea and the northeastern part of Taiwan.
