At the same time, Zigong is also an important source of dinosaur fossils in China, known as the "hometown of dinosaurs", and is famous in the world for the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, one of the world's three major dinosaur museums.

Located about eleven kilometers northeast of the city center, the Zigong Dinosaur Museum has always been a mecca for Chinese dinosaur fans. In 2008, Zigong Geopark was officially accepted by UNESCO as a member of the "Global Geopark", and its core area is naturally the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, known as the "Oriental Dragon Palace and Dinosaur Kingdom".
As one of the world's first three major dinosaur site museums in China, Zigong Dinosaur Museum covers an area of more than 66,000 square meters, and the collection of fossil specimens almost includes all known dinosaur species in the Jurassic period 205-135 million years ago, and is currently the largest collection and display of Jurassic dinosaur fossils in the world. It was rated as "the best dinosaur museum in the world" by the American "Global Geographic Magazine". The Zigong Dinosaur Museum is mainly divided into the Collection Hall, the Ruins Hall and other animal halls. The collection hall mainly displays dinosaur skeletons. In the tall and spacious hall, a number of dinosaur fossil skeletons with intact skeletons come to life, of which "Tianfu Emei Dragon" is the most eye-catching behemoth in the whole hall.
In addition to the Tianfu Emei Dragon, there is also a fierce dinosaur in the hall - the Construction Qi Dragon, don't look at its size of only four or five meters, but it is the overlord of the Dashanpu dinosaur fauna, and it is also the nemesis of the Tianfu Emei Dragon. In the exhibition hall, there are also Li's Shu dragons with both progressive and primitive nature; multi-toothed salt dragons with small bodies and bipedal walking; relatively primitive stegosaurs - Taibai Huayang dragons and so on.
Strolling through the viewing platforms and boardwalks of dinosaur "collective graves", you will find the remains of dinosaurs under your feet and around you as if within reach, and the time and space of hundreds of millions of years have been intertwined here.
So, how are these layers of dinosaurs concentrated here? Expert research believes that these dinosaurs may have inhabited the upstream river and lake area, died in a sudden catastrophe, were brought here by floods, and were quickly buried and formed. Multi-stage floods brought multi-stage dinosaur corpses, so layers of "dinosaur graveyards" were formed. As an extension of the fossil burial site, in the basement of the central hall, a fossil burial site with an area of about 353 square meters is preserved. Seventeen dinosaur individuals are stacked here, and all the fossils maintain the original burial appearance when they were first discovered, representing the essence and core of the Dashanpu dinosaur fossil group.
