There is a rainbow road in front of Hal Grims Cathedral, a famous landmark in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, which is very eye-catching and distinctive. I thought it was because Iceland has a lot of rainbows, and the design of such a road is distinctive. Later, I learned that this road is not called Rainbow Road, and there are not always rainbows on this road, and Rainbow Road will be in different cities at different times, and it has its significance.
I still love this rainbow road, no matter what it means, I just think it's really beautiful. Reykjavik is a very walkable city, with flat terrain, concentrated shops, good air, not crowded people, and very comfortable to walk. This road connects halgrim cathedral, we came out of the church, did not speak well or look at the map, so there is a tacit understanding to go to this road.
Here, you can see a lot of tourists taking pictures everywhere at any time, I believe the locals have seen it strangely, and many of the tourists here are taking professional cameras, like we hold a small point-and-shoot camera and mobile phone people are relatively small. Pedestrian street is forbidden to enter by vehicles and bicycles, the people here are also very well-behaved, no one enters illegally, pedestrians can rest assured that they can walk on this section of the road.
I don't know if it has anything to do with Rainbow Road, but when we went there, a series of paintings were on display on the side of the road, which should be an exhibition. I didn't look closely, I just thought the atmosphere was nice and loved the feeling. Large paintings stand on the side of the street, and the whole street is an exhibition hall, and each painting on display is a huge painting. It's just that I'm a little worried, the weather here is changeable, and if it rains I don't know if it will break the painting.
If you walk forward, you can see that there are many large decorations in front of the shops in the shopping street, and many of the shops have people or animal shapes in front of them, which is particularly eye-catching. I love these portraits, so special, so lifelike, it feels like characters coming out of Norse mythology. The tall dolls are very eye-catching on the street, about 1.5 times the height of adults, and the shape is very distinctive.
Walk along the Marina Walk, and the cool exterior of the Harpa Concert will catch your eye for a second. It's a building you won't want to miss, it's so special that it looks good day and night. Music listening is accessible, a small part of the space is open, and there is a souvenir shop. There are as few people here as in other parts of Iceland, so you can get around comfortably.
The Sun Voyager is arguably Iceland's most classic sculpture, it sits on a promenade with Lake Tjornin in front of it, a place that looks beautiful at the sea and the sun sets on the snow-capped mountains. This sculpture is a must-see for almost every visitor, I don't know why, this sculpture reminds me of the little hero of the North Sea, VikingSri, and their sailing stories, and it feels like there are a lot of stories unfolding by this lake.
Walking around the city, famous attractions are certainly not exempt from going to see, but what attraction can compare to the charm of shopping? A must-see in Reykjavik is Laugavegur Street, which is a little more touristy but not crowded. There are various shops on this street, there are several small supermarkets, there are gift shops, there are souvenir shops, there are bookstores, and there are many things to see.
Most visitors to Iceland don't miss the capital, as it's the only airport in Iceland. In fact, we did not have much interest in the capitals of various countries, most of the capitals are just more lively, according to our experience of in-depth travel to several countries, other cities will spend more time than the capital, so we ranked the capital in the last 2 days. But the capital of Iceland makes me feel that we have too little time left for the capital, it is very suitable for a slow walk, it is very suitable for finding a small restaurant to eat seafood and drink beer, it is very suitable for hanging out, it is very suitable for life. I love this place, it's full of tourists, but the locals live in it and can still feel their joy.
