The main reason for this name is that the red-tailed Burrow preys in a manner very similar to that of a bird of prey. The red-tailed Burrow preys on other animals for a living, sticking its prey on sharp objects through its claws and then cutting it open through its hook-shaped mouth to enjoy a meal.
