Speaking of Konya, I think many of my friends don't know about it. Because this place is simply not worth mentioning compared to the rest of Turkey. However, if we talk about the ancient Silk Road, talk about the whirling dance of Turkey, and then talk about the ancient Seljuk sultanate in the 12th century, which is even the birthplace of the Turks. So the place that looks inconspicuous is definitely worth stopping and admiring.
Speaking of regrets, it is impossible not to mention the heavy snow in Turkey in 2019 that has not been encountered in decades, that scene is really as written in the poem: "Thousands of miles of ice, thousands of miles of snow", at that time, it was also forced to helplessly, all the attractions in Konya were closed, so this also became a regret for my trip to Turkey. However, this does not prevent me from talking to the officials about this mysterious Kongya.
Konya is arguably one of the oldest cities in Turkey, having been inhabited by humans as early as 10,000 years ago, making it one of the oldest human settlements in the world. But what really brought Konya to glory was in the 12th-13th centuries, when the Seljuk Turks established the Seljuk Empire here at the end of the tenth century and the beginning of the eleventh century, and established the capital at Konya. The Seljuks were actually a branch of the Turkic Oghuz tribe, and before the establishment of the Seljuk Empire, the brave and warlike Turks not only occupied all of Persia, which is now Iran, but also defeated the Byzantine army and captured the Byzantine Emperor Romanus IV, whose most glorious empire included Iran, Iraq, the Caucasus, Asia Minor and Syria.
Since Turkish Konya was once used as the famous imperial capital, although the time has passed a thousand years, you can still see the monuments of the Seljuk period in Konya. In addition to the fascinating cultural architecture and historical sites, Konya is also the home of whirling dance. Spin dance is a collective dance, usually the dancers are male, just like the name, the content of the dance is to rotate in circles, which stems from the understanding of the Sufi sect, the Sufi sect believes that everything is rotating, from life to death, through young, young, middle-aged, old age, this is a cycle, is an endless cycle. In addition, the whirling dance has a high degree of similarity with the Huxuan dance of the Chinese Tang Dynasty.
Turkey was the end of the Great Ancient Silk Road, and Konya was the most important supply depot for the ancient camel merchants before they reached the end. Located at the western end of the ancient Silk Road of Konya, during the reign of the Seljuks 12-13, it was once the most important transit point for goods on the Silk Road, and the prosperity of goods and merchants from the East was endless.
Today's Kongya has long faded its former prosperity, only the monuments of a thousand years ago, and silently record its former glory. Such an important post station related to the ancient Chinese and the great ancient Silk Road is definitely worth your stop in Turkey.
