Eastern Afghanistan suffered a strong earthquake on the 22nd. It was the largest number of people killed in Afghanistan in 20 years. The earthquake struck in the early hours of the morning, and was particularly hard hit in Khost and Paktika provinces in eastern Afghanistan.
