Recently, global sportswear giant Adidas' new limited edition sneaker Superstar Ravi was snapped up in stores across the UAE.
This is a unique version of Adidas' classic Superstar shoe, launched in partnership with Dubai's iconic restaurant Ravi, and released globally on June 23.
Designed in collaboration with Ravi Choudary, Abdul Hameed and his sons, members of the Ravi restaurant family business, the sneakers have a unique style and feature hand-drawn maps of the rivers of northeastern Pakistan that the restaurant bears its name.
Opened in 1978 and offering authentic Pakistani cuisine, Ravi is a frequent restaurant for local residents and tourists alike, with the best-selling signature dishes including Peshawar Chicken and Tadhuri Chicken.
As early as 4am, sneaker fans in Dubai line up at designated shops to get a pair of Superstar Ravi sneakers.
As part of the launch, the Adidas flagship store in Dubai Mall was completely remodeled to have the feel of ravi restaurant, with T-shirts emblazoned with Ravi and Adidas logos on the walls.
Assad, a Jordanian expatriate in Dubai who picked out two pairs of sneakers for a friend, said: "I bought them for my British friends who love Ravi's food and it's the perfect way to pay homage to a restaurant. ”
