On February 13, 1958, a Japanese icebreaker, the Sogu, was sailing off the coast of Antarctica. Suddenly, the crew on deck shouted "Godzilla..." and pointed to the sea in front of the bow!

300 meters away, a "hairless monster" with a protruding back ridge is looking at them coldly...

It was around 5 p.m., the Sogu was moving slowly, the surrounding area was eerily quiet, and the crew had been sailing for many days, but they were still in good order.

Suddenly, the crew on duty in charge of the lookout shouted a few times, and the sharp shouts caused a commotion on the otherwise quiet deck.

At this time, the captain of the "Sogaya" Matsumoto Manji also happened to be on the deck.

So, together with more than a dozen crew members, he saw a scene that would never be forgotten in his lifetime...

Just over 300 meters away from the bow of the ship, a huge black-brown "monster" floated on the surface.

If at the beginning, everyone subconsciously thought that they might have encountered whales or the like, but at this moment no one would think so much!

Because this "monster" has a pair of big eyes like a brass bell, at this moment, it is also staring at the "Zonggu" ship.

Whales don't have that "cold" look!

And this thing, the eyes actually released a "contemptuous" look, it seems that there is no fear of this big ship approaching it...

"Godzilla! This is Godzilla..." Someone on the ship suddenly shouted again, causing a commotion again.

According to the recollection of Captain Yuji Matsumoto afterwards, the "monster" was supposed to be floating on the surface of the water at that time, because only the head and half of the dorsal fin were exposed.

The monster has a pair of large eyes and obvious ears! The head may have a diameter size of 80 cm! What impressed him most was the seemingly prickly bulge on the dorsal fin of the monster, which reminded him of the "giant lizard"...

So why did the crew shout "Godzilla" at that time?

In fact, just four years ago, around 1954, Japan launched a monster movie "Godzilla" - this giant beast living in the deep sea, because of nuclear radiation, returned to land, causing great psychological panic and shadows to people.

Since then, "Godzilla" has quickly become synonymous with deep-sea giant monsters, and even became popular all over the world.

Four years later, the Japanese "Munakata" encountered a nameless monster in Antarctica, and the crew naturally thought of "Godzilla"...

Captain Matsumoto later referred to the monsters they witnessed as "Antarctic Godzilla".

Looking at the incredible scene at the bow of the ship, the captain hurriedly turned and rushed back to the cabin, he wanted to take out his camera to take a picture of the monster...

However, when he returned to the splint again, the sky above the sea was empty, and there were any "black-brown" monsters except for the ice floes.

The crew told him that after about 30 seconds, Godzilla turned around and dived into the water and disappeared...

It can be imagined that in the era of the "Godzilla" movie fire in Japan, such a "monster haunting" news was suddenly exposed in Antarctica, and its sensational effect was huge!

This "monster sighting incident" has, of course, also attracted the attention of scientists, and speculation from all sides has continued.

Some strict experts believe that according to the route of the "Sogu", the "monster" they saw at that time may be an "abandoned iron barrel"!

It turned out that shortly before the Japanese ship arrived in that area, the American icebreaker Burton Island also passed through there.

Experts believe that it may be a black-brown object dropped or abandoned on a U.S. ship that floats on the water. After a long voyage, the Japanese crew formed an "illusion" and regarded it as a "monster".

What's even more coincidental is how does this monster "look" so much like Godzilla in a Japanese movie? According to the crew' descriptions, isn't it the subconscious mind that is influenced by the movie?

In the face of many doubts, the people on the "Zonggu" could not deal with them one by one. However, the captain published a book called "Antarctic Transmission" in the later period, which became a popular figure for a time.

Of course, the most controversial feature in this Antarctic Transport is an illustration of the "Antarctic Godzilla" hand-drawn!

Skeptics grabbed on this detail and hyped it up!

It turned out that this monster hand-drawn painting was not personally painted by the eyewitness Matsumoto Manji, and the publisher never announced who the author was...

However, by the time the Antarctic Transmission was published, Matsumoto had already died of illness, and his son was solely responsible for the compilation of the contents.

According to Matsumoto's son, before his father died, he often mentioned "Antarctic Godzilla" to him, and he asked people to draw figures based on his father's description.

Things have come to this point, and it seems to feel a little darker and darker...

Decades have passed, and the scientific expedition ships of various countries that have entered Antarctica have not been exposed to any "sighting" of monsters...

The Japanese "Musutani" became the only witness vessel, but it also became an "isolated case".

In the face of this mysterious Antarctic monster, whether it exists or not, it does not affect the hot discussion of human beings...

So, if such a deep-sea beast really exists, what will it be? How many secrets exist in the inaccessible and bottomless waters of Antarctica?

Perhaps at the moment, no one can answer this question.

Twenty years later, however, another Japanese ship, again at sea, and another "sea monster sighting" incident, happened again.

In 1977, the Japanese Miyoyo Maru in New Zealand waters witnessed another sea monster sighting. This time, the Japanese trawler actually "fished" a strange sea creature corpse from the sea!

After measurement, the monster corpse is about 10 meters long, with a 1.5 meter long neck and a 2 meter long tail! Unfortunately, the crew ended up throwing the body into the sea out of fear!

Fortunately, they brought back some photos (Picture 3) that proved that this had indeed happened.

About the story of the "Ruiyang Maru" sea monster, the next time I have the opportunity, I will tell you more about it...

Do you think that "Godzilla" or "sea monster" really exists?
