Mechamore: Metal casting and ancient observatory
Speaking of metal casting, it is also necessary to mention the archaeological site of Mechamor in Armenia, where archaeologists have discovered a large comprehensive site of mineral and metallurgical cities dating from the third millennium BC to the first millennium BC. Until recently, the Palestinian metal casting furnace was considered the oldest furnace in the Middle East (13th century BC), but the smelters of all sizes found at the Mechamore site were relatively old.

An ancient observatory has also been found at the Mechamore site, believed to have been built between the third and second millennium BC. The approximate position of the observatory coincides with the direction of the ecliptic belt, where the average length line extends along the sun's annual trajectory. The trajectories of the Moon and the planets also follow this band.

Weapons and wealth
Thus, in the middle of the second millennium BC, gold products and castings of gold, silver, copper and bronze were exported from Armenia to many other countries. Since the 17th century BC, large quantities of iron have been exported from Armenia to the Hittite Kingdom, Egypt, Assyria, the North Caucasus, and central Russia for everyday use in the form of weapons and ornaments.
During this period, Armenia supplied black (or iron) chariots and horses to almost all of its neighbors.

Thus, Armenia's natural resources make a significant contribution to the economic development and military readiness of neighbouring countries. Because of this, the ancient states of the Middle East tried to control Armenia, or establish permanent trade relations.
These trade relations with distant countries contributed to the development of geological and geographical knowledge of the Armenians.
Mineral and metallurgical traces of the ruins of Mechamore, Armenia.
Is it possible that the development of metal ores and the metallurgical production of metals — mainly the production and export of iron — become the basis for the development of astronomical knowledge in the Armenian Highlands? Perhaps it is no accident that the ancient site of Mechamore has both a metallurgical complex and an observatory, but a very clear and reasonable explanation.
