Jin Weiguo is a bird administrator of the management and protection station of Shanghai Chongming Dongtan Bird National Nature Reserve, mainly engaged in bird ringing and flag system release, is a member of the volunteer team of Dongtan Bird Sanctuary, the green environmental protection publicity volunteer service team, and the "Bird Whistle Action" volunteer service team.
In November 1998, Dongtan established a bird nature reserve, and Jin Weiguo became a bird protection volunteer. The personnel who came to Dongtan to conduct bird surveys and scientific research came to the door one after another, asked Jin Weiguo to understand the migration of birds, asked him to catch live birds, for the publicity of bird research and environmental protection, he did not hesitate to contribute his bird catching technology without compensation, captured a large number of water birds, and promoted the research of birds and the publicity work of protecting birds.
In the spring of 2002, dongtan bird nature reserve began to implement bird ring work, asked him to catch birds for the reserve, he gladly accepted, volunteered to come to Dongtan, blew a long-lost bird whistle, and captured 2,000 plover water birds for bird rings that year.
In March 2004, Jin Weiguo was hired by the reserve to become a full-time bird guard. He conscientiously studied the laws and regulations on the protection of wild animals promulgated by the state and local governments, and actively participated in the daily patrols organized by the management and protection department and the monitoring of avian influenza epidemic sources. He also took advantage of his long-term activities on the beach, familiarity with the terrain of the beach and experience in beach walking, and took the initiative to serve as a guide for night ambush law enforcement operations against poachers.
In November 2008, Jin Weiguo was invited by Australian bird experts to travel to 80 Mile Beach to participate in the International Ornithological Symposium, and blew the Chinese bird whistle in the southern hemisphere of the earth.
With the continuous advancement of the Dongtan Bird Ring Banner work and the increasing international and domestic influence, people pay great attention to Jin Weiguo's bird catching technology, CCTV, Shanghai Television, Oriental Television and other media have made special reports on Jin Weiguo's bird hunting. CCTV's children's science and technology column also specially invited him to produce a children's science education program that loves birds and protects birds. On October 31, 2009, in the outdoor activities of the Shanghai Mayor's International Entrepreneur Consultation, Jin Weiguo's bird whistle performance won the unanimous praise of many international friends and won the high praise of the then Mayor of Shanghai, Han Zheng. Jin Weiguo's bird catching technique is a folk stunt and the inheritance of the cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. In 2009, he won the title of Bureau-level Advanced Individual of Shanghai Key Engineering Project and The City Management Meritorious Competition of the World Expo and the title of "Technical Expert Pacesetter" in the cityscape greening industry.
Since 2002, he has captured nearly 40,000 waterbirds for bird research in the reserve, Fudan University, East China Normal University and other units, and in 2007 alone, the number of circumnavigated birds released in the Dongtan Bird National Nature Reserve exceeded 7,000, ranking first in the world in terms of the number of single-point circumferences. Over the years, the Ring Flag Birds released in Dongtan have been recycled in Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia and other countries, and the mainland has become the country with the most recycled Ring Birds in the world, which has been praised by the international industry.
