Why do Armenians roll lavash into tubes and then dry it?
If this is an isolated case, I wouldn't even pay attention to it. But the truth is that in the local market in Yerevan, in any bread department, the whole roll of lavash is sold.
That is, in addition to the usual flat lavash, the Armenians also made twisted lavash. By the way, the price is the same - about 25 rubles each.
I asked the local saleswoman, why roll pita? After all, it takes time.
She explained that this is not a simple lavash, but a special one - it is eaten with khash. A tube of pita bread should be placed on a plate and then crushed into soup. It turns out that this is a version of "cookie soup".
I immediately had another question – what, the usual flat pita bread no longer fits Cash?
The salesman said no one ate dry flatta cakes. Usually, it is moistened with water to make it soft again before it can be eaten like regular bread.
Curiously, this tradition is really common in Armenia. In fact, even at a local café, they would serve me twist pita cakes to make soup. By the way, I must admit that it is really convenient to break it down into hashes – that is, this form was not chosen by chance.
Friend, how do you eat lavash? Maybe there are some special recipes – for example, would you wrap some filling in it? I look forward to your feedback in the comments.
