Due to the recent monkeypox epidemic, on May 23, Brasser, Director of the Endangered Wildlife Conservation Division of the Wildlife Conservation Department of Thailand's National Parks, presided over a meeting and convened the heads of various relevant departments to discuss the response to the monkeypox epidemic.
One of the participating doctors said at the meeting on the same day that although the monkeypox epidemic has not yet been found in Thailand, the Wildlife Conservation Department of the National Park still needs to be prepared to take the initiative to screen and monitor the monkeys in various national parks, and if a confirmed case is found, the above diseases need to be included in the prevention list. At the same time, the staff of the wildlife inspection station is also reminded to take full protection during the inspection.
In addition, the parties at this meeting also negotiated to strengthen the health inspection of imported wild animals, proposed that the director of the Department of Wildlife and Animals increase the steps of monkeypox inspection, especially for the import of wild animals in Africa, and proposed to slow down imports in consultation to await further instructions and adjustments of prevention and control measures.
