Hong Kong, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Non-official members of the Executive Council (Guild) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region visited the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the West Kowloon Cultural District and the newly built convention and exhibition station and the expansion of Admiralty Station in the cross-sea section of the East Rail Line on the 5th to learn about the preparations for two important cultural and transportation infrastructure projects to be launched soon.

It is reported that the Hong Kong Palace Museum is designed to integrate the three elements of traditional architecture, art and Hong Kong cityscape, and is expected to open to the public in July.

Accompanied by the Acting Secretary for Home Affairs of the HKSAR Government, Mr Chan Kit-chi, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (West Kowloon Authority), Tang Ying-nian, and the Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Ng Chi-wah, the members of the Guild visited the Hong Kong Palace Museum. Chan Chi Si, convener of the guild, who is also chairman of the Hong Kong Palace Museum Limited, welcomed the members of the guild to the meeting.

The members of the guild expressed their expectation that the museum would use a new curatorial approach to exhibit the treasures of the Palace Museum and other important cultural institutions in the world, so as to promote the public's research and appreciation of Chinese art and culture. It is believed that with the opening of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, together with the opening of M+ at the end of last year and the Xiqu Centre opened in 2019, the West Kowloon Cultural District, which has top museums and performance venues, will become a platform for interaction and cooperation among cultural institutions around the world, fully demonstrating the characteristics of Hong Kong's Chinese and foreign cultures, cultural diversity and richness, and helping to consolidate Hong Kong's status as an international cultural and artistic hub.

The station extension will open simultaneously with the opening of the east rail line crossing section on May 15, when Admiralty Station will become the only "super transfer station" for the fourth line transfer.

Guild members then take a special train from Admiralty Station to convention and exhibition station to see works by local artists, World War II bombs discovered during the project, and historical panels showing the century-old evolution of the East Rail.
