Since the "new stove" of Jietu Automobile, it has also been rejuvenated in products and marketing, and the three countries will be joint series models, hardcore off-road SUV T-X and new sports SUV Dasheng, etc., all revealed that Jietu wants to strengthen and expand the plan in the low-end consumer market. Unfortunately, at present, Jietu still gives people a sense of "thunder and rain and small points".
The sales target set by Jetway Automobile this year is to guarantee 200,000 yuan and compete for 300,000 yuan.
But since entering 2022, Jetway has not shown the momentum to match the annual target. Sales of the X70 series, the cumulative sales in the first quarter are less than 20,000 vehicles, and the monthly sales of the X90 series are always hovering between 2,000 vehicles. Although a number of new products will be launched in the future to strengthen the market competitiveness of the brand, it is still full of unknowns whether sales can be brought to a higher level. Therefore, at this stage, it is particularly important to optimize and upgrade the main sales model.
The Jetway X70S, which entered service in 2018, with its large space and cost-effective characteristics, helped the X70 series quickly break through the mark of 10,000 units sold per month at the beginning of the market. Unfortunately, the good times were not long, and with the frequent quality problems and the promotion of competitors of the same level, the Jietu X70S was quickly smoothed out. Although it is still active in the consumer's field of vision, the slightly mediocre appearance and single model version are obviously quite different from the consumer market that tends to be younger and diversified in demand.
In order to revive the former glory of this "national big 7-seat value-added SUV", Jietu Automobile recently launched a mid-term remodeled version of jietu X70S, with a pre-sale price range of 8.79-11.99 million yuan, and an additional 3,000 yuan for the optional 7-seater. Compared with the current 2020 Star Edition, which is priced at 156,900 yuan (the 2021 models priced at 117,900 yuan have been discontinued), it is equivalent to a 70,000 yuan lower entry threshold official, and the starting price of automatic transmission models is 55,000 yuan less. The new Jietu X70S is suddenly cheaper than two Hongguang MINIEV, and its market competitiveness has naturally been significantly improved.
In addition to the more "sincere" price, the new Jietu X70S has also been optimized and adjusted in appearance and interior. The front face adopts the latest family-style design of the Jietu brand, which is transformed into a new large-size grille, and the interior is a dot matrix layout, which is more fashionable and sporty than the current model. The fog light areas on both sides are still the old 4-dot layout light group, which is a little less fresh, but it is highly recognizable. The four-striped design on the bonnet gives the front of the car a little more muscular feel to the sporty model.
There is little change in the side of the body, and there are minor adjustments in terms of size. The new Jetway X70S has a three-dimensional circumference of 4749/1900/1720mm and a wheelbase of 2745mm. Compared with the current model, the length and width have been slightly reduced, while the height has been increased by 10mm, and the wheelbase remains unchanged. The tail basically continues the design style of the current model, the light strip inside the taillights is more textured, and the exhaust layout of the two sides (two of which are sealed) highlights the identity of its sports model, but combined with its performance, this design is somewhat ostentatious.
Although a series of optimizations have been made in the interior, the jietu X70S has been revamped, but it is still difficult to escape controversy. Since its listing, the Jetway X70S has been mired in the shadow of "plagiarized doors" due to the central control layout and the design of the door panel and the Audi A4L. This mid-term redesign is equipped with a new electronic gear lever, and the door panel also adopts a new design layout, but it is still very difficult to completely separate from the Audi A4L.
In terms of power, in order to meet the diversified needs of consumers for power, the new Jietu X70S provides two powertrains, a maximum power of 1.5T engine of 108kW, a peak torque of 230N·m, and a transmission system matching 6-speed manual and 6-speed wet dual clutch. It is superior to the current model on sale in terms of parameters and gearbox (6-speed dry dual clutch). The 1.6T engine has a maximum power of 145 kW and a peak torque of 290 N·m, matching a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. The overall price has been reduced, but the performance in power has shown a clear upward trend, and the new Jietu X70S is really easy to attract the attention of consumers.
The Jietu X70S after the mid-term revamp, whether in terms of appearance, configuration or power performance, is indeed more "fragrant" than the current model. But in order to break the current deadlock, in addition to achieving its own transformation, we must also consider how to stand out in the circle of many competitors. From the perspective of price and positioning, the new Jietu X70S will compete head-on with Geely Boyue, Changan CS55 PLUS and Jietu VS5 in the future. These competitors have considerable advantages in terms of brand appeal and market reputation. Although the new Jietu X70S has a good price-performance performance, it is obviously a little worse to get back to the top just by relying on this.
