Late in the second quarter of the warriors' second-round series against the Grizzlies, Warriors forward Draymond Green was banished for a second-degree malicious foul against Grizzlies forward Brandon Clark.
With 1 minute and 18 seconds left in the second quarter, Green pulled Clark's jersey and caused Clark to fall heavily to the ground, and after a replay review by the referee team, Green's foul was ruled a second-degree malicious foul, which also led to Green's expulsion.
Shortly after the game, Draymond Green immediately responded to the foul on his own podcast. Not only did Green say he grabbed Clark's shirt (trying to protect his opponent) before he fell to the ground, but Green also said it wasn't surprising to him to be deported:
Consider the malicious fouls Green has received so far in his career, including even the ban after the foul in the 2016 Finals and led to the Warriors' eventual reversal.
Green also researched and analyzed the rules for foul deportation on his own podcast, and Green even laughed at himself that he was actually stupid enough to think he wouldn't get a level 1 malicious foul:
"I'm actually stupid enough to think I won't get a first-degree malicious foul, and if you're talking about any idiots, just look at Draymond Green himself."
Still, the problem Green wants to address on his blog is obvious, mentioning that he actually wants to protect Clark after a foul, which simply means that Green doesn't think it should be to the level of a second-degree malicious foul.
