The Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Moldova also followed suit! Where is Moldova, Latin America?

author:Thousand Buddha Mountain car gods

There is a country whose name sounds like a Latin American country or an African country, but it is actually a European country.

It is located deep in Eastern Europe, with a small area, a small population and a very low sense of existence, but it has become an international focus because of the recent Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

This country is Moldova.

Moldova and its neighbor Romania are brotherly countries of the same language, they belong to the same ancient Dacians, conquered by the Roman Empire, and today Romania's name is derived from this history.

The region of Dacia, today's Romania

Since then, with the decline of the Roman Empire, the Dacia region has gradually become independent, and in the Middle Ages, three states have emerged: Wallachia, Moldavia and Transylvania.

By the middle of the 16th century, the Ottoman Empire had conquered all three states, with Wallachia and Transylvania (present-day Romania) being directly under the jurisdiction of the Turks, and Moldavia (present-day Moldova) being allowed to claim vassalship and retain autonomy.

In 1812, the Ottoman Empire was defeated in the Seventh Russo-Turkish War and was forced to cede most of Moldavia to Tsarist Russia, where Russia established a state administration.

By 1859, with the support of Tsarist Russia, the remainder of Moldavia had joined forces with Wallachia to form the Duchy of Romania and formally become independent from the Ottoman Empire.

In 1917, Tsarist Russia collapsed in the Revolution of World War I, and at the time of the Russian civil unrest, the Moldavian region was proclaimed, establishing the Moldavian Democratic Republic, and merging with Romania the following year.

Moldavia's independence left the Soviet government unhappy and waited for an opportunity to retake the region.

After World War I, Romania took back Moldova

In August 1939, the Soviet Union and Germany signed the Soviet-German Non-Aggression Pact, and Moldavia was placed in the Soviet sphere of influence.

A month later, the German blitzkrieg against Poland, and the Soviet Union immediately marched into eastern Poland, while sending troops to northeastern Romania to reoccupy Moldavia.

The Soviet occupation of Moldavia led to a complete break with the Kingdom of Romania at that time, which immediately fell to Nazi Germany and joined forces with Germany to invade the Soviet Union.

With the participation of the United States in the war, the Soviet Union received a large amount of Us aid, and the balance of Soviet-German strength gradually reversed. By 1944, the Red Army counterattacked Germany and captured Moldavia again.

After World War II, the Soviet Union established the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, and Moldavia became one of the fifteen republics of the Soviet Union.

Moldova

After the drastic changes in Eastern Europe, the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic was renamed the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic.

By May 1991, the Moldovan Soviet Socialist Republic had again announced its name change to the Republic of Moldova and by August had officially declared its independence.

Moldova wanted to merge with Romania immediately after independence, but due to the Russian rule for many years, moldova still has a large number of ethnic Russians and some pro-Russians, and under their opposition, Moldova has been slow to integrate into Romania.

In addition to opposing Moldova's accession to Romania, the Russians in Morocco also gained independence.

There is a river in eastern Moldova called the Transnistrian River, which was originally the boundary river between Moldova and Ukraine. During the Soviet period, for various reasons, about 41 million square kilometers of the eastern bank of the river were allocated to Moldova. (Ukraine did not suffer, the Soviet Union allocated all the coastal areas in southern Moldova to Ukraine, and the area was larger.)

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the area was dominated by ethnic Russians, who did not want to follow Moldova for independence, so they announced their independence from Moldova and established the Republic of Moldavia on the Transnistria River, which Chinese the media referred to as the "Republic of the German Left".

The long yellow area in the figure is Dezuo

As a sovereign state, Moldova certainly could not sit idly by and watch the territorial division, and naturally would not agree to the independence of Germany and the Left, so the two sides soon fell into civil war.

It is reasonable to say that there are few people on the left and too few to block the Attack of Moldova.

But you really can't stand russia's secret pull, sending volunteers to help the German left repel the Attack of the Moldovan army and force the Moldovan government to recognize the status quo.

Since then, under russian protection, the Dezuo region has maintained de facto independence.

Although the Moldovan government has not been able to effectively control the Dezuo region, the Moldovan government has not abandoned the region, insisting that the German left is Moldovan territory, and the international community and the vast majority of countries do not recognize the independence of the German left (even Russia does not recognize it).

On 22 July 2005, the Government of Moldova adopted the Law on the Basic Provisions of the Special Legal Status of the Transnistrian Region, which established the Dezuo region as an autonomous oblast, de jurisprudence emphasizing sovereignty over the Dezzuo region.

After the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict on February 24, 2021, the situation between the German left and the left also began to tense.

Because the performance of the Russian army in the Russian-Ukrainian conflict was indeed a surprise, there were many voices in Moldova to recover the German left region, hoping to take this opportunity to complete national reunification.

In this regard, the Russian government solemnly warned Moldova and asked it not to act rashly, so as not to worsen the situation.
