According to the WTT World Table Tennis Federation, the ITTF Executive Committee approved the latest proposal formulated by the World Ranking Working Group. In order to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tournament, the "initial points" introduced in 2020 will be removed, and the world ranking of players will basically consist of the sum of the 8 highest points achieved in the past 12 months. At the same time, the Working Group has also developed special measures to mitigate the impact of COVID-19. The changes will take effect from the ITTF World Rankings in week 18 of 2022.
