On April 29, 2022, Changsha Lugu Urban Development and Construction Co., Ltd. released the first public bidding announcement of the "Changsha Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center Project" module 1 project and module 2 project.

Project construction objectives

In order to meet the demand for public computing power and services of artificial intelligence for scientific and technological innovation, talent training and industrial intelligent transformation in Changsha, the Changsha Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center project will build an artificial intelligence innovation center with a peak capacity of 200P Flops@FP16 of semi-precision floating-point computing, and become the computing power base of one center and four ecological platforms of Changsha Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center.

Module 1 and Module 2 adopt different technical routes and build their own computing power platforms with 100P@FP16. Module 1 and Module 2 are independently constructed, unified operation, using their respective computing power advantages and ecological resources, division of labor and cooperation to provide computing power and artificial intelligence industry development services, and jointly build a hard-core scientific and technological innovation platform that integrates computing power center, industrial aggregation, application innovation incubation, and talent training.

Module One

Changsha Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center project module one, the construction of 100P Flops@FP16 artificial intelligence computing power system and supporting computing center. The computing center considers the subsequent expansion of the computing power system and designs it according to the capacity of the artificial intelligence computing power system that meets the scale of about 300P Flops@FP16. The project covers an area of 1224.4 square meters, with a total construction area of 2485.2 square meters.

Module two

Changsha Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center project module two, module two construction can provide 100P Flops@FP16 artificial intelligence computing system and supporting computing center, the current phase of the computing center in accordance with the 100P Flops@FP16 scale artificial intelligence computing system capacity design, the later expansion of computing power deployed to the park plane computer room. The main body of the cube machine room is divided into two parts: above ground and underground. The above-ground part is the intelligent computing system of the cube machine room and the glass curtain wall enclosure structure, covering an area of about 210.2 square meters and a height of 10.45 meters; the underground part is a computer-aided supporting room. The length, width and height of the glass curtain wall enclosure structure is about 14.5 * 14.5 * 10.45 meters, which serves as the external physical security protection cover of the computer. The cube machine room is a cube with a length, width and height of about 8.44 meters * 8.44 meters * 8.5 meters, and the inner part is arranged on three floors, facing two rows of cabinet frames, and two rows of three floors can provide a total of 69 cabinets.

Module two needs to adopt a diversified open architecture, can integrate a variety of AI chips, the AI chips used in the bidding have training and reasoning capabilities, of which the immersion liquid-cooled AI node (with AI chip 1) focuses on AI training, and the rack AI node (with AI chip 2) focuses on reasoning services. The AI chip configured in module 2 is compatible with the mainstream software application ecology, and has the characteristics of wide use, flexible migration, and low difficulty in compilation and development. At the same time, Module 2 supports mainstream AI frameworks, algorithm models, data processing technologies, etc., improves the applicability of the computing power center, meets the needs of different application scenarios and multiple types of users, supports diverse reasoning and training artificial intelligence processing tasks such as vision, speech and natural language processing, and better supports regional artificial intelligence to achieve innovative application and development in both depth and breadth. In addition, Module 2 has 5P Flops double-precision computing power, which provides perfect support for the integration of artificial intelligence and traditional scientific research, and can meet the needs of interdisciplinary fusion application scenarios such as AI+ basic science, AI+ bioinformatics, and AI+ material simulation.
