Apple's second-quarter results exceeded expectations: the most profitable thing is indeed it

On April 29, Apple released its financial report for the second fiscal quarter of fiscal 2022.

Apple's fiscal second-quarter revenue of $97.3 billion, up 8.6 percent year-over-year, was higher than analysts' estimate of $94 billion and net profit was $25 billion, up 6 percent from $23.6 billion in the year-ago quarter, according to the earnings report.

Among them, revenue from iPhones was $50.57 billion, compared with $49.738 billion in the same period last year, an increase of 5.5% year-on-year, more than half of the revenue in the second quarter.

On a regional level, Revenue in Greater China was US$18,343 million, up 3% from US$17,728 million in the year-ago quarter.

Meanwhile, iPad revenue was $7.646 billion; Mac revenue was $10.435 billion; wearables, home devices, and accessories was $8.806 billion; and revenue from services was $19.821 billion.

After the earnings report, Apple CEO Tim Cook said on a conference call that iPad revenue was hampered by "very serious supply constraints" that had been difficult to buy for months and that shipping took nearly two months.

But the iPad's install base is at an all-time high, and half of the customers who buy the iPad are new users who are buying for the first time.

At the same time, Cook said that the iPhone attracted "record levels" of upgraded users in the quarter, and the number of users switching from Android to iPhones also increased.
