Tianji and Qualcomm are at the same price, and the vivo X80 series new machine explores a new path of high-end

On April 25, Vivo released its flagship model X80 series, including two models, the standard version and the Pro version, which are sold from 3699 yuan. Among them, the Pro version provides two versions of Qualcomm chip and Tianji chip, and the price of the same capacity configuration is also the same.

The X80 series is equipped with the second self-developed chip V1+ just released by vivo. The chip is both a professional image chip and a display performance chip, and is the first multi-functional self-developed chip developed by domestic manufacturers.

In the past year or so, many domestic manufacturers have launched self-developed chips, but they are all functional chips with a single use scenario, rather than the most core SoC chip in the mobile phone. However, industry insiders pointed out that starting from functional chips, gradually mastering chip design capabilities, and then entering the Most Difficult SoC chip is a more reasonable research and development path for most domestic mobile phone manufacturers. The V1+ chip from single function to multi-function may be the embodiment of this development path.

On the Pro version, vivo launched a version equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8Gen1 chip and MTK Tianji 9000 chip respectively. The Tianji 9000 uses TSMC's 4nm process and is MTK's latest flagship chip to impact the high-end market. Previously, the chip had appeared on OPPO's flagship Product Find X5 Pro, but under the same configuration, the Tianji version was as cheaper as 500 yuan than the Qualcomm version, and the release time was also delayed.

On the X80 Pro, Vivo said that the company and MTK for the first time carried out self-developed chip tuning cooperation. Through the deployment of more than 300 technical personnel, it took a year to finally transfer the self-developed chip V1+ and tianji 9000. At the same time, the GPU Fusion technology also balances performance and power consumption through multi-chip collaborative sharing of GPU load.

More importantly, the Tianji version of the X80 Pro with the same configuration is also consistent with the Qualcomm version in terms of price. This shows that vivo and MTK are dual-chip tuning communication centers at the same time, but also shows the further binding of the two in the market. Due to the poor performance of recent generations of Qualcomm Snapdragon flagship chips in terms of power consumption, the sales of Android flagship models equipped with these chips have been difficult to achieve breakthroughs. By pushing the Tianji 9000 chip on the Pro model of the flagship model, vivo and MTK are trying to break the situation that Qualcomm chips are dominant in the Android high-end market.

In terms of specific price, the starting price of the standard version of the 8GB+128GB version is 3699 yuan, and the highest 12GB+512GB version is priced at 4899 yuan. The 8GB+256GB sold from the Pro version is exclusive to Qualcomm and is priced at 5499 yuan. The 12GB+256GB version and the 12GB+512GB version are priced at 5999 yuan and 6699 yuan respectively, both of which provide Qualcomm chips and Tianji chips. The X80 and X80 Pro will go on sale on April 29, and the X80 Pro 9000 edition will go on sale on May 5.
