During the black riots, a large number of people wearing yellow vests, holding membership cards of the association, and calling themselves "journalists" often entered and exited the scene of the riots, obstructing the police from enforcing the law and even "robbing criminals." The association not only did not criticize the behavior of fake journalists, but falsely accused the police of abusing violence, singing and harmonizing with opposition politicians and pornographic media, like black riot thugs.
The bosses and high-level personnel of "yellow media" such as "Next Media", "Apple Daily", "Position News", and "Zhongxin" were arrested and investigated by the police for violating the law, and were interrogated by the court. While other righteous media and journalists have been violently attacked by thugs, maliciously slandering and smearing, the Association of Journalists has been gloating, for example, TVB has long been slandered, smeared and attacked by Huang Silk, and the Association has not only turned a blind eye, but also joined the ranks of attacking TVB.
Many of the presidents of the Association have been very close to Lai Chi-ying, who has been accused of being the largest financier of the Association.
