Why did Doncic return and the Lone Ranger lose?

Lone Ranger G4 lost, it should be said, no surprise. Because the Lone Ranger G2G3 is too accurate, the space type interior line is accurate for three consecutive games, and the Jazz can disband in situ. G3 Kleber + Bertans + Josh Green combined 11 of 17, G4 became 2 of 10, can not stably punish the Jazz defense, this is not the part that Doncic can control.

But Doncic did change the format of the game a little bit. Why did Doncic look for Gobert and Play Bojan more in the game than insist on Bronson and Dinwiddie's empirically valid name for defenders in G2G3?

There are two reasons for this:

First, the Lone Ranger's several spatial interior lines are not accurate enough, and there are many fouls on the defense, which has led to Kidd reducing their time and increasing the time of Powell, who has stronger comprehensive strength at both ends of the attack and defense. One of the reasons the Lone Rangers were able to break up the Jazz's defense by grabbing guards was to attract Gobert and White Edge to assist and let the space-type interior line punish them. Powell was present, and this condition did not exist. Although it is possible to play small people from a mid-range, it is not much of an advantage compared to playing a center.

Second, Jazz's response is also different. Before the start of this series, one of the three major defensive weaknesses we mentioned for the Jazz was to attack their outside single defense points, but this premise is that Doncic is there. Because of the Jazz's so-called outside single defense weakness, except for Clarkson, others are not bad in the traditional impression of single defense, and Conley and Mitchell are qualified in the same position defensive ability. A bit of an accident in this series is that Bronson and Dinwiddie beat up the Jazz backcourt, while Conley and Mitchell are the same type players as them, and Conley's previous initial confrontation was Bronson. But the Jazz are well aware that these defenders can't defend Doncic, so jazz are more vigilant about Doncic's guard and won't change defenses.

That's why Doncic is always looking for Gobert, and if the roll call fails, you have to play Bojan in the same position - the Jazz are taking the powerful Bojan to defend Doncic, O'Neal to defend Bronson, and hide Conley and Mitchell in Bullock and Electric Fan, which are all lessons of G2G3.

But this didn't have much of an impact, because Doncic was strong enough that he could move. It is precisely because Doncic is strong enough that when Powell is on the floor, the Lone Ranger attack is OK and does not rely entirely on the space-type interior line.

Another influence Doncic had on the game was that the Jazz would look for him on the offensive end instead of finding a guard or center. Doncic initially defended Bojan, and the original meaning of this alignment was that there was no need for defenders to defend Bojan - Bojan exploded the Lone Rangers defenders in the first three games - but soon could not hold on, because Bojan's participation in tactics was too strong, Mitchell and others named Doncic, and Bojan could be punished. Doncic could only defend O'Neal, which made the Lone Ranger have to take the defender to defend Bojan, although Bojan did not explode this time, but still attracted a pinch. O'Neill's offensive presence has also improved with Doncic, although the three points are still inaccurate, but there are some roll-ups when Doncic is played 4 to 3, feeding Gobert the cake.

Gobert contributed more on the offensive end, this time he got more pie, the board exploded, although the free throw was not accurate, it still made the Lone Ranger uncomfortable. But the bigger change was on the defensive end, and the Jazz made a compromise:

The Jazz still can't believe the five, although today added Hernan Gomez into the rotation, but not playing center. Pascal only played 2 minutes, most of the time still Gobert and White Edge eating the no. 5 rotation. The Jazz didn't give up the center and not go into the field where the Lone Rangers are good at, and this choice was right;

But the Jazz can't tolerate leaking the outside line all the time, and their change is that the center shrinks on a large scale when he is on the floor, such as when the center is in the bottom corner of the strong side, if the lone ranger breaks in, the center will not recover, but rely on others to make up. The Jazz's co-defense rotation is very large, everyone has to participate in the co-defense, and the speed of entering the rotation is also very fast. It's not the same as their regular season strategy, the effect is OK, but there are still cases where the rotations overlap.

In general, I think Doncic's return is positive for the Lone Ranger:

Although the defense is negative, when there is no him, the Jazz can find others:

The Lone Ranger has shown in the first three games without Doncic's ability to develop offense. But the Jazz are also improving their defense, and once the Lone Ranger's space-type interior crosshairs can't be maintained, making Gobert and White-sided co-defenses comfortable, whether Bronson and Dinwiddie can still penetrate the Jazz defense is a question mark, and Doncic is undoubtedly more likely to do this.
