Three of the "Eight Immortals of Severe Illness" have arrived in Shanghai

As of 24:00 on April 23, Shanghai has reported a cumulative total of 87 deaths, 160 severe cases and 19 critical cases treated in designated medical institutions. According to the Health Times, the "Eight Immortals of Severe Illness", who once rushed to help fight the epidemic in many places, have now three experts rushed to Shanghai to provide support.

On April 7, Guan Xiangdong, one of the "Eight Immortals of Severe Illness" and director of the Department of Critical Care Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, received a notice from the medical treatment team of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council in response to the novel coronavirus pneumonia epidemic and rushed to Shanghai to provide support and work with severe disease experts across the country to guide the medical treatment of new crown pneumonia in Shanghai.

On April 21, Kang Yan, a professor of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at West China Hospital of Sichuan University, president of West China Tianfu Hospital, and one of the "Eight Immortals of Severe Illness", who had just finished supporting work in Jilin for a few days, also rushed to Shanghai to carry out medical treatment for patients with severe covid-19.

In addition, Qiu Haibo, vice president of Southeast University and chief physician of the Department of Critical Care Medicine of CUHK Hospital, is also fighting in the frontline of the fight against the epidemic as a medical treatment expert of the Shanghai Working Group of the Shanghai Working Group of the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council.

On April 18, Qiu Haibo said in an interview that from the current situation of admission, the number of new coronavirus infections is large, and the number of elderly infected people has also increased. The elderly are often accompanied by a variety of underlying diseases, which are easy to evolve into severe diseases and need to be paid great attention to. For severe cases, it is necessary to look at them in two, one is simply because of the infection of the new crown virus from mild to severe, and the other is a variety of underlying diseases superimposed on the new crown, both of which will bring threats to life and health. At present, Shanghai is working hard to "move the threshold forward" to avoid asymptomatic infections and mild patients from developing into severe diseases.
