Every year, March 23 of the lunar calendar is the Chinese White Dolphin Conservation Publicity Day.
The Chinese white dolphin was listed on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species in 2008.
It is a national first-class protected animal in China and is known as the "giant panda of the sea".
