Max Verstappen won pole position in qualifying for Emilia Romagna with a victory over Charles Leclerc.
In qualifying for this stop, due to repeated accidents, the race ended 40 minutes later than expected, and Wetterburn performed well in Q3 to get pole position.
The Dutch driver will finish first in Saturday's sprint, which will be the shortest race of the 2022 season.
McLaren's Lando Norris remained third in Q3 despite the crash.
