Recently, the Beijing police successfully detected a criminal case of infringing the intellectual property rights of the mascots of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. As the mascot of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the cute "ice pier" and "snow melting" have become the new "top stream". Under the "one pier is difficult to find", some lawbreakers have impersonated and sold counterfeit licensed goods without authorization to obtain illegal benefits.
"One look fake", the e-commerce platform store pulls out the criminal chain
At the end of November 2021, some people reported to the cultural law enforcement department of Shijingshan District of Beijing that they had purchased a pair of "ice piers" and "snow rongrong" at a price of more than 90 yuan per pair in two stores on an e-commerce platform. After verification by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, the online shopping dolls are imitations, and the two online stores have a large sales volume, suspected of criminal offenses, and the clues of this case were transferred to the Shijingshan Branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau...
After receiving the clues, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau deployed a special team, and through combing through the online stores involved in the case and related clues, it was found that the two online stores were owned by the same gang.
At the end of 2021, under the coordination and command of the Ministry of Public Security, the special case team arrested Wei Mousheng, Wei Moufei, Wei Mouze and other 3 people involved in the case in other provinces, and more than 350 fake "ice pier" and "snow Rongrong" mascot dolls were seized at the scene.

Wei Moufei explained that in the middle of November last year, his brother Wei Mousheng and his compatriot Wei Mouze were concerned that the Beijing Winter Olympics were about to be held, and they opened 4 online stores on an e-commerce platform. Wei Mousheng is responsible for contacting the purchase, and after the store customers place an order, they jointly send the infringing mascot dolls through express delivery, accumulatively selling more than 1,500 counterfeit "ice pier" and "snow Rongrong" dolls.
"After capturing Merriam-Webster, we continued to track down their online production and sub-shipment gangs based on the clues provided by Merriam-Webster Bros." Gu Ran, commander of the Ring Food and Drug Brigade Squadron of the Shijingshan Branch of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, said.
The special case team dug deep along the line and locked in a criminal gang headed by Gu Mouqi and Gu Moujun's brothers suspected of producing and processing infringing and counterfeit mascot dolls. At the beginning of January 2022, the special case team concentrated on collecting the net, and a batch of fake "ice piers" and "snow rongrong" semi-finished products were obtained at the scene.
At this point, a criminal chain of production and sale of infringing and counterfeit mascot dolls was destroyed.

Taking the "Webster Brothers" case as a clue, under the coordination and guidance of the Ministry of Public Security, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Ring Food and Drug Brigade Corps has destroyed 6 production, sales and storage dens, seized more than 1,200 counterfeit "ice pier" and "snow Rongrong" dolls and a large number of raw materials, and closed 14 online stores.
Although the "Merriam-Webster Brothers" case has been solved, the public security organs' protection of Austrian-related intellectual property rights continues.
Pei Xudong, head of the mobile detachment of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Ring Food and Drug Brigade Corps, introduced that the Food and Drug Crime Investigation Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security organized the Beijing Municipal Public Security Organs to dig deep along the line and successively deployed public security organs in various places to conduct verification around more than 30 key clues.
Guangdong public security organs focused on a three-dimensional pendant of the "ice pier" suspected of selling infringing pirated copies, locked in the wholesalers and the source factory of counterfeiting, arrested 8 criminal suspects, destroyed 6 production and sales crime dens, and seized more than 58,000 finished and semi-finished products of the infringing pirated "ice pier" three-dimensional pendants at the scene.

At the same time, the public security organs in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, Shaanxi and other places have also successively detected a number of cases of making and selling infringing and pirated mascot dolls, pendants, sportswear, commemorative medals and other cases that infringe on the intellectual property rights of the Winter Olympics.
