The story prototypes in the musical "Peony Red" are all derived from the real frontline. According to Zhou Yahui, the artistic director of the play, as early as the beginning of the creation, he and the main creative team were stationed in mat river for more than 3 months, walking through the streets and alleys of mat river, fields, and collecting a large number of local music materials and story materials.
With the deepening of the style, they were deeply moved by the villagers' self-financing of the peony cultural festival, and found it difficult for a single form of music to pay tribute to them, so they decided to show it in the art form of musical theater, bringing the audience the story of the struggle between the cadres stationed in the village and the masses.
