"I felt, when I left,
The scenery I see will disappear with my memory,
will be changed and forgotten,
It's going to become something that never happened."

Japanese illustrator Takashi Nakamura paints fine lines for all aspects of everyday life, from fruits and vegetables grown with crops and a glass of water to larger scenes in parks and libraries.
Takashi Nakamura was "raised reading manga", which also influenced his austere work, which is usually composed of precise lines and faded colors.

His focus on everyday life is refreshing as his perspective changes from one picture to another, celebrating the neglected.
"I always like to paint the little things in my life because it's easy to forget those moments."
It is these closer drawings that really captivate the viewer, whether in the food of a picnic or next to a hand holding a firework that is about to flicker.

Takashi Nakamura's illustrations are hand-drawn, and he likes this similar approach.
"First, I draw a draft and then erase some of it, leaving only vague image traces.
And from there I started painting with a water-based pen."
This use of ink gives his work a soothing, summery vibe and a worldly gray that welcomes detachment from reality.

Takashi Nakamura's work is inspired by manga, cartoons and fine art with exquisite line drawing and meticulous attention to detail.
"Fujiko Fujio and Shigeru Mizuki in the manga had a great visual impact on me. When it comes to painting, I love Van Gogh."
In the scenes painted by Takashi Nakamura, the swirls of colors, graphic figures, and shapes come to life in the moment of still life, and the diversity of references is undoubtedly evident.
"Before, I wanted to paint the past and the familiar, but I wanted to get out there and paint the outside world I saw and the moments I felt there."

There is no doubt that Takashi Nakamura's works are still highly commissioned.
They are very effective at expressing emotions and continue to appeal to the masses.
"When I'm commissioned to do a job, I try to understand what's being asked of me and go beyond it as much or as little as I can.
On the other hand, I continue to work independently, freely, and have solo exhibitions."
Over the years, Takashi Nakamura has honed his practice and he has found that painting is becoming more and more therapeutic.
"I paint because I want to document my daily life, and in my own photographs, I see it.
I felt that when I left, the scenery I saw would disappear with my memory, would be changed and forgotten, would become something that had never happened."
To capture these memories, Takashi Nakamura pays close attention to his fleeting environment.
"Now, in terms of the way I paint, I think it's more intense and passionate."

One of the pieces, Flowers in a car, mixes chiaroscuro and bright pastels to create a beautiful scene reminiscent of Studio Ghibli or vintage manga (the latter being a direct inspiration to Takashi Nakamura).
"I want the audience to wonder where I'm going with the flowers.
I thought, if they could imagine themselves going to celebrate, to go to the grave, or to go somewhere else to buy some flowers, that would be great."
The final stroke is the sun, which is placed in the "distant sky" and disappears into "dotted ripples to show how far it is and how wide the sky is".
