The National Library of China 4 23 World Book Day "Light, Video, Audio and Video Reading" special event - Vinyl Cultural Festival is being held in the audiovisual service space on the fourth floor of the north area of the main building. The event lasted for 10 days, combining online character interviews, cloud exhibitions and offline experience activities, leading readers to feel the charm of vinyl culture from multiple angles.
Rare vinyl from the late Qing Dynasty, modern color glue records, wax cylinder phonographs, opening tape machines, wire phonographs, opening tape recorders... During the event, a micro-exhibition of vinyl culture was added to the audiovisual service space "Guided Experience Area", showing recording machines and various vinyl records of different eras, re-reviewing the story of sound in human history, and attracting readers to stop and appreciate.
The event also set up a special shelf for vinyl resources to help readers experience and deeply analyze vinyl records. At the Vinyl Culture Festival, everyone not only enjoyed high-quality music, but also saw various colors of rubber records, which was eye-opening. Through the display of the opening machine, wax cylinder, etc., we also learned about the production process behind the vinyl record.

Since the end of the last century, the National Library has included vinyl records in its collection and begun to collect and select them into the collection. At present, the collection of the National Library of China has more than 25,000 Chinese and Western vinyl records, including more than 1,100 rare 78-turn vinyl records, including symphonic folk music, pop music, opera and so on. The continuous collection of high-quality vinyl record resources has laid a solid foundation for the National Library of China to carry out vinyl appreciation services for readers. Officially open to the public audio-visual service space, readers can effectively experience the one-stop service of combining paper literature and audio and video resources, and the organic combination of sight, listening and reading will bring readers a different reading experience. On the basis of digging deep into the collection of vinyl records, the National Library of China has formed a recommended catalog of collections, which can meet the personalized needs of readers to appreciate and research, and truly practice the original intention and mission of librarians to "find books for people and books for books".
