Among them, the new varieties of cut flowers in the monthly season, 'Heart of the Naked Child' and "Alpine Rhododendron Annual Potted Flower Production Technology", were listed on the list of new varieties and new technologies respectively.

'Heart of the Naked Child' is a new variety of cut flower season with independent intellectual property rights that has been bred for five years by the Flower Research Institute of the Institute of Flower Research of the Institute, and is also the first monthly variety authorized by the European Union in mainland China. The plant is erect, the leaves are shiny, the branches are 60-100 cm long, and the stout erection is good. The red flowers are cup-shaped with high heart curls, and the color of the inner and outer petals is uniform, and there is no black edge, scorched edge and other spots. The number of petals is 40-48, the flower diameter is 9-12 cm, and the bottle cutting period is 8-10 days. The annual yield per plant is about 20 branches. In addition, it has the advantages of high yield and strong disease resistance.

After ten years of unremitting efforts, li Shifeng, Xie Weijia and others of the research and development team of alpine rhododendron of the institute have introduced 184 alpine rhododendron horticultural varieties from Germany, Belgium, Japan and other countries on the basis of investigating, collecting and studying the germplasm resources of rhododendron native to Yunnan, collecting 28 species of wild rhododendron resources in Yunnan, and building a 36-acre alpine rhododendron germplasm resource garden. On this basis, more than 10 new varieties such as 'Pink Spirit' and 'Daiyu' and 'Dai Yu', two authorized new varieties, 'Red Makeup', 'Yang ChunXue' and 'Cuihu Tongyun' and a large number of special germplasm resources that can be selected in the future have been selected.

At present, the team has obtained more than 10 national invention patents related to alpine rhododendron, established a technical system for efficient breeding of rhododendron seedlings, and developed and promulgated technical regulations such as "Technical Regulations for the Production of Alpine Rhododendron Potted Flowers" and "Technical Regulations for soilless cultivation of Alpine Rhododendron Tissue Culture Seedlings and Potted Flowers". The new varieties cultivated and the supporting technologies of research and development have been promoted and established in Kunming, Dali, Zhaotong, Baoshan, Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, Weihai City, Shandong Province and other areas in Yunnan Province, and carried out demonstration and promotion. More than 1.2 million seedlings of "Alpine Rhododendron" have been produced and demonstrated. Guide the two enterprises in Songming County to produce and cultivate alpine rhododendron potted flowers of international quality. This year, about 30,000 pots were listed and sold, mainly for cities in developed areas such as Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai and other developed areas, with an average unit price of more than 300 yuan and an output value of more than 300,000 yuan per mu.

It is understood that the natural flowering period of alpine rhododendron is from March to May, and the application of the flowering control technology developed by the team can regulate the flowering period of alpine rhododendron to the "Annual Evening Flower" from December to February, the "National Day Flower" from September to November and the "Summer Flower" from June to August, thus realizing the annual flowering dream of alpine rhododendron.
Li Shifeng told reporters: The promotion and application of research and development results has initially realized the transformation of Yunnan's biological resource advantages to industrial advantages, and has played a good leading role in the localization of characteristic alpine rhododendrons.
