Ye Jiaxiu and the folk song movement
Ye Jiaxiu was born in Hualien, Taiwan, to a not-so-wealthy family, where mountains and seas tower and valleys crisscross, and is the last place in Taiwan to be inhabited by Han Chinese, and is also known as the most beautiful piece of pure land in Taiwan. Ye Jiaxiu, who came out of here, created a musical style full of idyllic scenery and local atmosphere, which has a great relationship with this pure land homeland.
When Ye Jiaxiu was a student, the folk song movement was still in its early stage of obscurity, but this trend first spread among the student body, and Ye Jiaxiu, who loved literature, threw himself into it.
In 1974, Ye Jiaxiu created his first work, "The Wanderer's Monologue", a song that predates the appearance of "Olive Tree" for 5 years, and also chases the light of freedom, pouring out the loneliness, sadness, and desire for beautiful love of a generation of young people.
This year, Ye Jiaxiu was less than 20 years old and had just been admitted to the department of political science at Soochow University in Taiwan. This year, the sensational "Tamkang Incident" has not yet occurred, and the folk song movement accompanied Ye Jiaxiu, a group of energetic young talents, to open a new era in the Chinese music scene.
When Ye Jiaxiu graduated from college, it was the time when the folk song movement was rising. Record companies have discovered the potential commercial value of folk songs, and have greatly promoted the promotion of folk songs by holding singing competitions to select outstanding singers for packaging. The Golden Rhyme Award and folk song competition launched by the two record camps of Xinge and Haishan were typical of the success of that year.
In 1978, Ye Jiaxiu participated in the first folk style writing group competition held by Haishan Records and won the winner of the solo group, thus entering Haishan Records as a singer-songwriter. Haishan Records was full of talents that year, and Qi Yu and Cai Qin, the two hall-of-the-road folk song divas in the Chinese music scene, were the best in this year's folk song competition. Qi Yu won the championship, and Cai Qin won the fourth place. However, in the end, Qi Yu threw himself into the arms of Xinge Records, where Li Taixiang sat.
Far-reaching 1979
In 1979, Haishan Records decided to praise Pan Anbang, a newcomer who had just been excavated. Pan Anbang was born into a famous family, his grandfather and father were both generals for two generations, and the children of the family were tall and handsome, even if they looked at it now, it was also a root. The record company arranged for Ye Jiaxiu to tailor his debut album, which is "Grandma's Penghu Bay" at home and abroad.
1979 was a very important year for the entire Chinese music scene in the three regions of the Taiwan Straits. In this year, in addition to Pan Anbang's first singing of "Grandma's Penghu Bay", Qi Yu sang "Olive Tree" and Cai Qin's masterpiece "Just Like Your Tenderness", both came out, and Luo Dayou, who had not yet graduated from medical school, published his amazing work "Love Song 1980", the giant ship of Taiwanese pop music.

In 1979, the Golden Melody Awards Ceremony, which led the Top Ten Chinese music scene in Hong Kong, was successfully held, and the Cantonese music scene entered a golden period of solidarity. Also in this year, Li Guyi of the mainland released the song "Nostalgia", which is regarded as the pioneering work of popular songs in the mainland.
Let's go back to the album "Grandma's Penghu Bay", which made Ye Jiaxiu and Pan Anbang both famous. The prevalence and decline of campus songs
In the 1980s, the pastoral songs led by Ye Jiaxiu had the same destination, and some people called them campus songs, which increasingly became an important force in the folk song movement. In addition to Pan Anbang, there was an extremely important singer in the 1980s, Liu Wenzheng, who became a leading singer in singing school songs created by Ye Jiaxiu.
Liu Wen was recognized as a super idol superstar in the music industry in the 80s, and his fame was on a par with the Chinese diva Teresa Teng Lijun, when there was a saying that "male students Liu Wenzheng, female singers Teresa Teng Lijun". His fresh and sunny image complements Ye Jiaxiu's songs, truly introducing campus songs into mainstream pop music and rapidly forming a sweeping trend in the Chinese music scene.
Among the many classic and popular campus songs created by Ye Jiaxiu, Liu Wenzheng is not the first singer, but his singing version is the most popular and deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. So many fans who do not know the end mistakenly think that Liu Wenzheng is the original singer of the song, and the impact is so deep that it is shocking.
In addition, qi Yu, Cai Qin, Zhang Mingmin, Fei Xiang, Qi Qin, Fei Yuqing, who are well-known singers in the Chinese music scene, have also inherited Ye Jiaxiu's works, and there are countless cover singers.
Around the 1990s, Pan Anbang and Liu Wenzheng, the two "spokespersons" of campus songs, have withdrawn from the music world, and the Chinese music scene has also entered the era of the record industry at this time, the album sales of singers are often millions, the word "art" is gradually stripped from music, and under the impact of the tide of the era of interest-oriented, the balance of measuring music has completely tilted to the side of "pop".
The folk song style that focuses on "feelings" has gradually been replaced by the urban style that has just risen and focuses on young people. After the 1990s, the folk song movement and school songs came to an end in the Taiwanese music scene. The east wind is gradually moving westward, the folk song style and the campus wind blow to the mainland song scene, and the mainland song world has appeared for a short time, another folk song genre "Northwest Wind", and then it is the campus folk songs that have spread throughout the 90s.
Gao Xiaosong, a leading figure in mainland school folk songs, and others regard Ye Jiaxiu as a mentor on the road of music. When Gao Xiaosong learned that Ye Jiaxiu had visited the mainland, he went to "worship the teacher" and joked that "he was already his correspondence teacher", because a large number of people were listening to the pirated Ye Jiaxiu cassette to practice guitar, and Gao Xiaosong was one of these people.
To a certain extent, mainland campus folk songs are inherited from Taiwanese campus songs, and Ye Jia correction is the most important founder of this trend.
