Wu Zhen (1280-1354), also known as Zhonggui, was a native of Meihua Dao, Jiaxing, Zhejiang. Famous painter, calligrapher and poet of the Yuan Dynasty. He is good at painting landscapes, plum blossoms, bamboo stones. Together with Huang Gongwang, Ni Zhan, and Wang Meng, they are known as the "Yuan Sijia". His works include "Fisherman's Father Diagram", "Double Juniper Pingyuan Map", "Cave Court Fishing Hidden Map", "Luhua Hanyan Diagram" and so on.
Wu zhen landscape master Fa Dongyuan and Ju Ran, both Ma Yuan and Xia Gui, dry and wet pens are used interchangeably, especially good at bringing wet moss. The ink is reckless and strong. Wu Zhen was a young man who was good at swordsmanship, and when he became an adult, he and his brother Wu Yao were employed by Liu Tianji in Biling (present-day Wujin, Jiangsu) to learn the I Ching, and since then, Taoguang has cultivated obscurity, taught the study of heavenly and human life, adhered to noble ambitions, did not make peace with others, and penetrated the three religions of Confucianism, Taoism, and Interpretation, and attained life and knowledge. Wu Zhen was a man who resisted Simplicity and loneliness, lived in poverty all his life, lived in seclusion, had little contact with dignitaries and nobles, and rarely sold paintings from customs, and when his life was difficult, he often went to Jiaxing, Wulin and other places to sell cloth to maintain his livelihood. He once taught in the village school and sold fortune in Qiantang and other places.
According to legend, Wu Zhenben and Sheng Mao lived side by door, and there were many people in the four directions who sought to paint with gold, and Wu Zhimen was quiet. The wife laughed. "Twenty years later, it will not be repeated." "The consequences are as they are. It is fully seen that Wu Zhen holds a sincere heart for art, and does not casually change his painting style to cater to the world.
Wu Zhen loves plums very much, and his house is surrounded by plum trees, and he takes the name "Plum Blossom An". Because there is an oak forest in the residence, the study is also known as the "oak room".
In his later years, Wu Zhen's thought moved closer to Buddhism, and he often went to Dasheng, Jingde, and Ciyun Temples in Weitang Town to talk with monks about Buddhism, chant poems and paint, and had close personal relations with Wu Zhen.
Wu Zhen was sixty-eight years old (zhizheng seven years (1347)) overseas Chinese living in Jiaxing Chunbo Outside the Chunbo Gate (now Jiaxing City) Chunbo Guest House, specializing in ink bamboo. When he and his friends met at the monk's house of Jingyan Temple, he loved the Buddha Gate and called himself "Mei Shami".
After returning to Wei Tang four years later, he chose his own birth before his death, and wrote an inscription: "The Tower of the Plum Blossom Monk". The tomb is on the side of present-day Meihua'an. In the fourteenth year of the Yuan Shun Emperor,Wu Zhen died and died short of his life in Tsuka: "The Tower of plum blossom monks".
In the first year of Taichang at the end of the Ming Dynasty, the local officials and gentry collected funds to build a tomb for him, Dong Qichang inscribed the plaque "Plum Blossom An", and Chen Jiru wrote "Plum Blossom An" to commemorate him.
