Writer Profile

Ah Yan, formerly known as Wang Weidong, is a member of the Communist Party of China and a member of the Chinese Writers Association. Originally from the Wei clan of Henan, he now lives in Gannan, Gansu. He is the author of the poetry collections "Gannan Shujian" and "Musk". He has won the China Gem Literature Award, the Dunhuang Literature and Art Award, and the Yellow River Literature Award. The single work "Sansha Poetry Chapter (Group Poem)" won the first prize of the national poetry essay "I write a poem for Sansha", "Suining Book" won the first prize of the first "Beautiful Suining" Chinese Poetry Competition, "Musk (Group Chapter)" won the first prize of the "Daluyi" Cup "Stars" Poetry National Prose Poetry Competition, "Those Breaths Shining Among the Blades of Grass (Group Chapter)" won the silver medal of the "Auspicious Gannan" National Prose Poetry Competition, "Dujiangyan Minor" won the second prize of the "Liujie Wei tianyuan" China Pastoral WeChat Poetry Competition, and "Chunxi Road" won the "Chunxi Road" Beautiful Chinese Poetic Place Names "Chinese Place Names Poetry Creation Third Prize" and other awards. In the vast land of Gannan, the majestic and vast, magical and beautiful natural beauty, the desolate and simple, profound and broad cultural connotations have nurtured a group of poets from the two-way level of material and spiritual. Ah Yan is one of the representatives. Ayan has long lived in Diebu County, the southernmost section of Gannan, where the red culture, historical and cultural heritage is profound, the folk customs are simple, the water is beautiful and the mountains are green, the peaks are towering, the river valleys are deep and long, and the vast forests and seas are green and green, stretching for hundreds of miles, and the beauty is like a paradise. The beautiful ecological environment, unique cultural landscape, simple folk customs and diversified cultural atmosphere nourish him, so that his poetry has a more prominent aesthetic personality, poetic tension and aesthetic pursuit. Ah Yan's poetic conception is open, aesthetic and elegant, flexible and clear, cold and superior, not only has a rich spiritual connotation and interpretation space, but also exudes a kind of Chinese classical aesthetic aesthetics everywhere.

The critic Mr. Jiang Dengke once commented on Ah Yan: "Ah Yan and his poems make people realize that life has a pure background. His poems have the open texture of Gannan, but they are not simply original pursuits, or long-term designs with precise contexts. In the dimension of his own poetry, life is simple, emotionally warm, and the language is plain, which is a poetic release similar to the texture of rich grass. But what distinguishes Ah Yan from ordinary poets is that although his brushstrokes always involve the region in which he lives, the region does not bind his space, but becomes the qi and blood that supports him, a traditional cultural heritage. ”

Compared with other poets, Ah Yan's poetic interpretation of his hometown of Gannan is unique. In Ah Yan's poem, the specific space of Gannan is both a geographical Gannan and a cultural Gannan, and his deep moaning and care for his hometown is like multiple fans that open invisibly, touching on different meanings and themes. He wrote about Gannan, from the first song of the Yellow River to the banks of the Bailong River, from the wonderland of the world to the chanting of the three rivers and one river, from barley winemaking to the villages of late autumn, from the legend of the antelope to the gaba dance... Readers can deeply perceive that his Gannan is multi-dimensional, both open and fresh, both rich and heavy, both magnificent and flexible, both the geographical personality of Gannan and the profound heritage of cultural Gannan. "A big river hangs in the night sky / A big river hangs overhead / The sound of a big river / Float my head into the distance" ("Remembrance of Ma Qu") The whole poem has only four sentences, which concisely and powerfully outlines the majestic momentum of the first song of the Yellow River, as if it suddenly opens up the open geographical background of Gannan; the poem "Gaba Dance" starts poetry from the perspective of the intangible pearl "Gaba Dance", implements the main idea, excavates and expands from the historical dimension, and leads to a kind of homeland emotion and cultural self-confidence" In the drum bowl, two or four people fling their sleeves and dance / The sound of the team trumpets in the wheat field / The wooden plough will pour out countless springs when the soil is turned over..." And poems such as "The Poems of Zaga na", "The Chronicle of the White Dragon River", "One Hundred Dolmas" and other poems involve nature, humanities, folklore, history, spirituality and many other aspects, and the broad intellectual vision and flexible imagination are intertwined and infiltrated in the verse "Dreaming of dolma of antelope cooperating / Dolma who sews leopard skin in Ma qu / Dolma with eight braids in Dolma in Dorney / Dolma who picks up the lamp at night / Whose fingertip flame burns the black of the night?" / Dolma picking flowers in the mountains in Zhouqu. / Embroidered brocade of Dolma in Lintan. / Dolma with a waist like water in the Summer River / Dolma swinging a leather whip in Luqu / Who stole a slit in the panicked wooden window? / Dolma of Barley. Dolma of Yanba. Dolma of milk. / Dolma of Agate. Dolma of the Clouds. /...... A hundred Dolmas of Gannan ..." The ancient and profound grassland culture is immersed in the poet, who shows the mood of the vast space of the Gannan land in the poem, at a glance, where historical memory, folk customs, and homeland emotions intersect, reading like a folk song thick and timeless, with feelings and taste. "Eagles, horses, lakes, moonlight, snow, barley, blades of grass, lightning, rivers, grasslands" and other images are the precious cultural reserves in Ah Yan's poetry, this is because the poet has lived in Gannan for a long time, he belongs to this land, this land is where his poetry grows, and the understanding and recognition of this land constitute its unique aesthetic pursuit and poetic direction.

A good poet is not only good at observing and experiencing the external world, so as to discover beauty, but also good at "introspection" to excavate his own inner world and gain extraordinary and unique recognition. Ah Yan always maintains the face of a thinker in his poetic dimension. He is good at digging inward into the depths of the soul, melancholy, quiet, lonely and warm. Ah Yan infiltrates his own perception of the world into the text, thus three-dimensionally expressing a broad spiritual vision and rich life experience, in the poem "Gannan Shujian", Ah Yan opened with the opening line of "Black pencil drawing white snow, illusion and reality are together." Like a shining ploughshares running through his heart, he said, "The eyes of an eagle are in a thousand miles." / Open the lightning and thunder; close, the grass is barren... Open the fence of dawn and there will be clouds out of the circle. The poet transforms the living experience of life into poetic speculation, from which people can get a lot of inspiration; and in the poem "The Tree of Light", the poet presents the reflection on time and the memory of life connected with time as "the leaf of the myth that shakes the water light" is transparent, deep, with allegorical hints: "The hunchback old man walks in a hurry, forgetting to take back / The back in the rain and the bell that is still echoing." An old yard, with a gray carriage in the corner of the wall. / Mother's desire to press at the bottom of the box gradually turns white, and in the process of continuous scrubbing / The red cloth robe that is dried on the wire has lost / The color of the girl's innocence. A passing rain in childhood / still as bright as ever..."; another example is the poem "Chrysanthemum Wine", the poet seems to see the past through the transparent wine glass, "and the grandmother inserted in the bun / how similar, are suitable for a Tang poem or a Que Song poem." /Snow stop in front of the window. This reminds me of the figure dangling under the candlestick." All are the fusion of perceptual experience and rational thinking, the interweaving and penetration of fantasy and reality, which implies a delicate and profound philosophy of life, and integrates the perception, love and philosophical extraction of everything in life from the surface and inside.

Poetry has always been regarded as the highest language art, and the language with the light of thought will make the psalm noble and elegant, and the imagination can make the psalm grow wings and fly over the limitations of time and space and become immortal. Ah Yan's poems are beautiful and elegant, light in thought, transparent and appropriate. The poet's sincere heart, flexible imagination and exquisite rhetoric often give people a refreshing feeling when reading, and those poems that are full of clear grassland atmosphere, close to the spiritual world of man, and at the same time flashing with divine light, can easily lead the reader into the path laid by the poet to convey philosophy and emotion, such as "She is very small, like a blue blade / with steel tone and blade" in "Tao Yan"; "Nine hundred years of dream awakening / only to present a green mountain and river"; "Three Big Trees" in "Three Big Trees"" Blue ink and white paper are prairie / Can depict pastoral songs, wine and horses / A man's flesh and bones are his own tent"; in "Phantom, Prairie or Ballad of the Four Seasons", "The fingers of spring, dipped in rain dew / The forehead of April / Green from my hungry eyes"... Ah Yan's poems let me see the long-standing poetic ideals and poetic qualities shining in the pen of a contemporary poet, and every poem he writes can make people feel that the realm he pursues in life is the poetic habitat in this world, the possibility of poetic life in ordinary reality, and the cultural persistence in the clear poetic realm.
