Yang Mingyi was born in 1943 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. He is good at printmaking and ink painting, and mostly uses the scenery of Jiangnan water towns to paint. Graduated from Suzhou Craft College. He is a member of the China Artists Association, the vice president of the Guoyun Wenhua Calligraphy and Painting Institute of the Ministry of Culture, and the vice president of the Haihua Gui Painting Institute. He has held nearly 40 solo exhibitions in Asia, the United States and Europe, and published more than 40 kinds of albums and anthologies.

He was the first to innovate a generation of ink painting in the style of Chinese painting, creatively expressing the rich charm of Jiangnan Water Town, forming a distinct and unique personal painting style, which has won high praise and wide praise from the art circles at home and abroad, and has a great influence. In 1978, he discovered Zhouzhuang in his sketches for creating a painting of "Festivals in Water Town", and was praised as "the first person to discover Zhouzhuang".

Art is more fascinating than nature, more fascinating than memory. I believe that one day everyone will suddenly find that if you go to Jiangnan and go to a small town, you will no longer be able to find Jiangnan.
