Ubisoft's October 2019 release of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is arguably one of the worst game debuts of 2019, so why is it just "one"? Because after all, there are worse "Anthem" and "Fallout 76" (funny emoticons) ahead of them.
Still, after the game was released, Ubisoft Paris worked hard to improve it, reintroduceing AI teammates to it, adding ghost experiences and various special actions. Now, after more than 11 updates, the developers today confirmed that the game won't be releasing any more updates.
The game's servers will remain online along with Ghost Recon Wildlands' servers. The last major update (not counting the NFTs update) was Operation Motherland, which added Conquest Mode to the game as an alternative to the Ontology Story Mode. Players can choose from different missions and new enemies and eventually liberate Aurora.
Interestingly, the developers said that player feedback on Breakpoint was "helpful" and that it would "help reshape the future of the series."
Ubisoft is currently working on Ghost Recon: Frontline, a free-to-play first-person shooter battle royale game. The game was announced in October 2021, and the game was originally scheduled to start a closed beta for the PC platform that month, but it was postponed, and then there was no news about the game.
