Kim In, who entered the dan at the age of 15 in 1958, won 30 championships and 22 runners-up in his long career, and was promoted to nine dan in 1983. In particular, after winning the championship in the 10th National Hand Battle in 1966, it was not until the 15th National Hand Battle in 1971 that he achieved six consecutive championships, and was known as the "Golden National Hand". During that period, Kim Yin also achieved 7 consecutive championships in the Korean throne war and 7 consecutive championships in the Korean overlord war, creating the "Kim Yin era". In 1968, Kim In set a 40-game winning streak in the official tournament, which is still the highest consecutive win streak record of the Korean Chess Academy.

In recognition of kim in his contributions to the development and popularization of Go in Korea, he was named a recipient of the Athletic Medal of The Tiger Award by South Korea last October. Kim Yin's bereaved family also donated 100 million won (about 560,000 yuan) in order to cultivate reserve talents in the Korean Go industry.
