Samsung wants to increase Orion shipments, and it is still difficult for Qualcomm

As we all know, the only chips recognized by the industry and consumers in the field of smart phones are: Apple's A series, Huawei's Kirin series, Qualcomm Snapdragon series, MediaTek Tianji series, Samsung's Orion series and so on. Among them, Apple's A-series processors are only for their own use, and Huawei HiSilicon has encountered a supply cut. So everyone can use the Qualcomm Snapdragon, MediaTek Tianji and Samsung Orion and so on.

In reality, the most recognized is the processor of qualcomm Snapdragon platform, and MediaTek Tianji has performed well in the past two years. As for Samsung Orion, only a few brands are used, including Samsung itself. The middle and high-end are generally dominated by Qualcomm Snapdragon, and the low-end is dominated by MediaTek Tianji. So now MediaTek Tianji has become the brand with the largest market share, but Qualcomm is currently a dominant brand in the high-end field. Samsung Orion is average and has a low market share.

It is based on this environment that Samsung's semiconductor division has seen business opportunities, and the news from Zhongguancun Online on October 17 shows that Samsung will increase the market share of Orion processors in the future, and initially plans to at least double the shipments of Orion processors in the future. Samsung's approach is very fun, simply divided into two steps:

Step 1: Increase the utilization rate of its own models

Previously, the proportion of Orion processors above the Samsung S series and the Samsung Note series was about 20%, and now the Note series has been cut; Samsung has decided to increase the share of Orion processors above the S series to 50-60%. This also means that Qualcomm's share of the Samsung S series has been reduced by at least 30%;

Second: Sell Orion to domestic brands

Previously, only Meizu and vivo in China had used Samsung Orion chips, and other brands had never used them. But these two brands are not used for a long time, but occasionally in emergency.

As the saying goes, "the exchange has to be hard by itself". If Samsung wants to increase shipments of Orion processors, it must come up with excellent products. From the situation in recent years, there is still a gap between the Samsung Orion processor and Qualcomm Xiao, otherwise it is impossible for overseas users to petition and hope that Samsung will no longer carry the Orion processor on the flagship machine.
