The Asia-Oceania Q School (Snooker Professional Qualification Competition) is about to start for the first time

The 2022 Asia-Oceania Q School will be held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, in June this year. The competition will be held in two phases, with the two finalists of each stage of the event having the opportunity to earn a two-year professional qualification, and a total of four professional qualifications will be awarded at the end of the event. The tournament will be open to amateur snooker players living in Asia and Oceania for £400 per person, with registration to be announced in the near future.

At the same time, Pang Zefuzhi in Sheffield, England, will also host the Q School event as scheduled. The Uk Q School will be divided into three stages, and the top four players who enter each stage of the competition will be professionally qualified, and a total of 12 professional places will be determined in the three stages of the competition.

This year's Q School Phase 3 event will run from 16 May until 5 June (tentative, the exact schedule will be confirmed after the end of registration) with an entry fee of £1,000 per person.

The registration deadline is 12:00 noon on April 13, 2022, and the entrants will fill in the registration materials by logging in to the online registration system of the event.

It is important to note that players cannot register for both the UK and Asia-Oceania Q School events.

The Asia-Oceania Q School (Snooker Professional Qualification Competition) is about to start for the first time

Steve Dawson, President of WST, said: "Being able to officially announce the Asia-Oceania Q School event is a particularly important moment for us, and at the same time we will also promote the opportunity for Asian and Oceanian amateur players with unlimited potential to advance to the professional level. ”

"Since its inception in 2011, the Q School has provided ample opportunities for amateur players to qualify for professional competitions. But snooker is not just for the UK, and as a global event we have a responsibility to provide a step forward for young players around the world who aspire to professional competitions, which is why we originally extended Q School to the Asia-Oceania region. ”

"We are delighted to be co-hosting the Asia-Oceania Q School event with our partners in Thailand. Snooker has a huge presence in the region, and while we've seen many successful players from China, Thailand and Australia on the Pro Tour, there's no doubt that this Asia-Oceania version of the Q School will give players in the region more options. I believe that the Q School competition in Bangkok will have a high-quality competition that is not inferior to that of the UK mainland. ”

"Again, we are delighted to be hosting the Q School in the UK for the 12th consecutive year, with the most advantageous and fair way to select players for the professional competition. Over the years, we've seen many players get into professional competitions through Q School, including some of the best players who have won championships and broken into the top sixteen in the world. ”

"As a professional sporting event with excellent prospects, now is the best time for young players to turn professional. No matter where you are, if you have the intention of becoming a professional player, then you can start preparing! ”

Mr. Suntorn Jarumon, President of the Thai Billiards Association, said: "We are very pleased that the World Snooker Tour WST and the World Professional Taiwan Federation WBBSA have given us the opportunity to make Bangkok, Thailand the host country of the inaugural Asia-Oceania Q School Competition. Hosting the tournament will be a great opportunity for local players to earn professional qualifications on their doorstep, rather than having to spend a lot of money and travel far and wide to the UK to participate in professional selection events. I would like to urge amateur players who aspire to become professional players to seize the opportunity to actively register for the competition. We look forward to seeing you in Bangkok. ”
