Mr. Luo did not expect that he had three cancers on his body at the same time. Mr. Luo, a 59-year-old who lives in Hanyang, experienced pain and discomfort in his upper abdomen after the Spring Festival, and he was losing weight day by day. Subsequently, he came to the Jinyinhu Branch of Union Hospital for treatment. Gastroscopy revealed that there were erosion foci in the lower and middle esophagus and multiple small ulcers in the stomach. Professor Liu Jun of the Department of Gastroenterology, who received the treatment, was keenly aware that these small lesions may not be simple, so he took materials for pathological examination. The pathological diagnosis surprised everyone, and all three lesions had high-grade intraepithelial tumors, which were early cancers. Liu Jun quickly transferred Mr. Luo to the gastrointestinal surgery department for further treatment through the MDT channel of Union Hospital.
In the face of the sudden bad news, Mr. Luo and his family were very worried. Professor Shuai Xiaoming, deputy director of gastrointestinal surgery, carefully analyzed the condition and comforted Mr. Luo, although there are multiple tumors in the upper gastrointestinal tract, but they are all early lesions, which can be cured surgically, and Mr. Luo finally put his heart at ease to prepare for surgery.
It should be known that it is extremely difficult to carry out gastric cancer and esophageal cancer surgery at the same time, and there are few reports at home and abroad, and the difficulty of surgery lies in how to reconstruct the digestive tract after removing the middle and lower parts of the esophagus and the whole stomach. To this end, Shuai Xiaoming consulted a large number of literature at home and abroad, and discussed with Professor Wang Sihua of Thoracic Surgery how to minimize trauma and improve the quality of life after surgery on the basis of ensuring surgical safety.
After repeated discussions, Shuai Xiaoming and Wang Sihua formulated a meticulous surgical plan and made alternative plans. In order to ensure that everything is foolproof, they consult with multiple specialties such as gastroenterology, operating room, anesthesiology, and ICU. The day before the operation, in order to ensure that the tiny erosion lesions of the esophagus could be accurately identified during the operation, Liu Jun of the Department of Gastroenterology performed a gastroscopy for Mr. Luo again, marked the titanium clip on the lesion of the esophagus, and injected nano-carbon staining.
On March 9, Shuai Xiaoming, Wang Sihua and other teams performed surgery on Mr. Luo. The whole operation lasted 7 hours and was very successful, with less than 100 ml of blood loss during the operation. On the third day after the operation, Mr. Luo was transferred to the general ward. At present, he has resumed a semi-liquid diet, has a good mental state, and all examinations and test indicators are normal, and will be discharged from the hospital in the near future.
Shuai Xiaoming introduced that stomach cancer is a common digestive tract tumor in mainland China, and people over 40 years old with a history of chronic stomach disease, a history of Helicobacter pylori infection, and a family history of gastric cancer should be screened for early screening. Now the pace of social life is fast, young people are stressed, irregular diet, spicy and stimulating diet, etc. are also important reasons for the rejuvenation of stomach cancer, and there are repeated epigastric discomforts that are not suitable for timely medical treatment and corresponding examinations.
