Every year around April 23 (World Book Day), on the day of spring breeze and warmer, a grand event about reading, the Spring Wind Reading List Awards Ceremony, is held in Hangzhou.
Writers, translators and critics from all over the country gathered in Hangzhou to take stock of the high-quality books of the past year and work with readers to unveil a comprehensive and high-quality "Spring Breeze Delight Reading List".
Since 2012, the Spring Breeze Reading List has been awarded for nine sessions. It achieved its original goal and became a unique reading event in the Yangtze River Delta.
Past judges, award-winning writers, and award guests have formed friendships with Chunfeng Yue Reading List and left a story in Hangzhou. The Spring Breeze Reading List connects them with readers and records milestones for the course of literature.
It's spring again, and on the occasion of the 10th Spring Wind Yue Reading List, we visited these old friends and listened to their stories with the Spring Wind Yue Reading List. What expectations do they have for the upcoming 10th Spring Breeze Yue Reading List?

Cheng Yongxin: Winner of the 7th Spring Wind Yue Reading "Silver Book Award" (non-fiction category) / Editor-in-Chief of Harvest
Winning work: "A Literary History of One Man"
Writer Cheng Yongxin is the current editor-in-chief of Harvest magazine and an old friend of Chunfeng Yue's reading list. He has served as a judge for many times, and has also won the Silver Book Award of the 7th Spring Wind Yue Reading List for "A Literary History of One Man".
At No. 675 Julu Road, Shanghai, Cheng Yongxin graduated from Fudan University in 1983 and was assigned here, nearly 40 years have passed. Su Tong's "Flock of Wives and Concubines", Yu Hua's "Alive", Wang Shuo's "Stubborn Lord", and Jia Pingwa's "Gao Laozhuang" were all responsible editors by him, and he was also known as "pioneer among pioneers", "writers among writers" and "editors among editors".
During this return visit, we visited Li Er, a writer and winner of the Mao Dun Literature Prize, in Beijing.
Li Er recalled that when he was young, many works were published in "Harvest", and when he interacted with Cheng Yongxin, he called him "Teacher Cheng", and to this day, this "Teacher Cheng" has been retained.

Hourly News: Can you tell the story of your encounter with chunfeng yue reading list?
Cheng Yongxin: Chunfeng Yue read the list, in my impression, I have been a judge and won awards. It can be said that it is one of the more influential events and awards in the South, and it is hosted by the media, and after a decade, its influence is slowly gathering.
It brings together all aspects and is a relatively open and inclusive award: translation, non-fiction, fiction... The awards are relatively rich and can reflect the outstanding works created and published in a more timely manner.
News: Can you tell us about your recent creative journey?
Cheng Yongxin: I am a professional editor, and I still read other people's works. I didn't expect to encounter the new crown epidemic, so at the end of 2019, I was sealed at home, and I had nothing to do, which was more uncomfortable. So some of the past ideas, exchanges, and inspirations (which came out) were written into several novellas, such as "If Only the First Sight", "The Shape of the Wind", "The Tale of Mount Qingcheng", "My Chiang Mai, My Teresa Teng", etc., four or five novels. The book has just been published.
I am a lazy person, not a very diligent person, [these works] is to pay off debts, have an account for myself, and have an account with life.
There are a few problems in between, one is that life itself needs to have an explanation; the other is that there are some ideas in it - I originally wrote 10,000 words, which is a short story, and when Su Tong read it, they said that you have a regret in this novel. This regret has been hidden for decades, and this time I have perfected it from the structure, and added a story line, there is a beauty of architecture, the beauty of structure.
Hourly News: Can you talk about an interested newcomer or a new book?
Cheng Yongxin: Alai's "Record of the Clouds", Yu Hua's "Wencheng" and so on. The language of "Wencheng" is very, very exquisite, very different from his previous works, and seems to be a type of literary writing.
Including Lin Bai's "North Stream", I prefer the memory of her hometown and the part of her interaction with the opposite sex, which I think is very well written.
Last year we sent a special number, one is Yu Hua's student and the other is Su Tong's student. Yu Hua's student is called Ye Xinyun ("Peacock" (excerpt), "Harvest" No. 4, 2021), and Su Tong's student is called Wu Linghong ("Wanyuan is a Beautiful Nest" (excerpt), ibid.). These two students, when they were studying for a doctorate later, Yu Hua's students went to Su Tong's (doctorate), and Su Tong's students went to read Yu Hua's (doctorate), and the potential was still very good. But they are all very new newcomers, and there is no way to measure his future with a few works.
Newcomers have problems, whether he has stamina, is very valued. I just wrote a few articles, but he couldn't pick them up later, he couldn't stand up, and slowly he would be forgotten over time; if there were good works that continued to come out, they would be remembered.
